Think of it like Steam for Tools. It would show you all tools available, allowing you to download ones you didn't have as well as tell you when tools needed an update which it would download for you. |

Basically it would keep your tools up to date but most people making tools at the time didn't want to be involved (From their side all they needed to do was have some kind of registry entry).

Quote: | UPHPS Updater is a Distribution and Updater service. It is currently a WIP(Work In Progress). At this stage only Command And Conquer tools are supported.
The system allows users to always be uptodate with the latest patches, rather then downloading a old version off of a site and realising that its out of date months later. The system relies on mirrors to hold the downloads, mirrors are free to choose what downloads they wish to have on there webspace. In return for being a mirror, when a file is downloaded through the client there banner(when clicked opens there site in users browser) is shown in the window. |

It made sense 10+ years ago, when the tools had no auto-update abilities. Right now, it is obsolete. |

Proberly cos it then has to draw a check box and new image for each item. There was about 3006 items in that stress test build.
Tho i thought it only drew what was in view.... ill have to check....
EDIT: oops, it was drawing everything no matter if it was able to be in view or not. Fixed in the next version. Doesn't matter currently since nothing has enough items to make a performance hit. |

Stu, if you haven't figured out yet, -skintest makes the list code run very, very slowly in the version I have. |

The numbers are rounded to 2 places. 3.56kb, 3.46mb, etc. I agree the update bit needs to be modifyed so it has 2 progress bars. (one for the downloading of a single file and one for the total)

You could..... make a skin for it! (-skintest added to the 'command line' will make it display everything thats noramly hidden and allow you to use the Colour Calc inn the skins menu)
Quote: | And I'd like to bug Stu about the Run functionality |
So would i but its hard to bug urself. |

Okay, I really should unlazy myself and add it. Mail me some information, and I'll 'bring' in TibEd 2. And please do not use my hotmail address - I lost all my mail there (again) after not logging in for 30 days. Better use http://www.tibed.net/email
Suggestion: the download numbers are not rounded I think, I see like 302,4235345345236 which is kind of distracting. And it updates so fast that I cannot read it.
Another suggestion: I could not find out how to exit the program, until I found the X in the top left.
And I'd like to bug Stu about the Run functionality |

Actualy im using a 'cut down'(very cut down) version for Original War, think NWN's updater which will or should appear in the next version.
I planned to add to it "Game Support", where the app would detect which games are on the users system and only get info on tools/mods which were any use to the user (unless they overwrited it). Which would be used for Original War mods when the community actualy makes some (Well only got basic mod support in dec 2005). Technicaly meaning any game could be used on the system. |

Continue, it's highly useful as long as people are willing to get off their arses and contact you. I'd like to use it for example when I finally get a public release of Twisted Malice. |

It seems to be a very useful tool. Provided other people want to work together with this, it should be an excellent way of updating community tools. Keep it going, I say. |

Its actualy not progressed alot since last year. iirc i did some in jan for a bit. But its hardly been touched recently.
The main problem is the amount of ppl who want there tools on the system. (or should i say the amount of ppl who arn't lazy and would make a new installer if needed) |
