What the map looks like isn't the significant feature of this map IIRC.

Here, I'll help, and with one pic. Note, I did not edit this at all, but the map is just this long...

Map Dimensions: 400 x 50, the feature of this map

@Ben: It's not a big download, and you're just too lazy to get it and play it to find out. Tsk tsk.
EDIT: Your sig needs to say "Phoenix Division", not "Pheonix Divison" #Tongue

This is a special hidden feature of RP 1.08SE. Creating this map is C&CVK's way of revealing the new feature. I'm sure mappers will go nuts over this. Next thing we know, he's got the game running with 10 or more players. Laughing

Yes, you heard me correctly, this map is PLAYABLE with RP 1.08SE.

Erm, VK, what does that have to do with the map? Or are you saying the surprize feature is only the Permanent Mind Control?

Get this, you whiney monkeys. This map is a proof-of-concept. It's not a masterpiece of art, it's a monument of coding ingenuity.

It is an interesting development, however what reason would you want to do a map that size? And who would do that? lol

Well, it's a good point. If I'm correct, nobody ever made a 200X200 map. Of course, it could still happen, but it would take alot of time. Thougth it is interesting for putting several maps together in one big map.

I've seen 200x200 or something close for TS. Some crazy people really do it, specially for mapping competitions.

The only problem is that with TS if you 'hack' the map or use a script to enlarge it up to the 'legal' maximum, you get scrolling errors and scrolling lag, believe me, I was crazy enough to start on a 200x200 Singleplayer map and discovered it was useless halfway through it Laughing Ooh... I was pissed #Tongue

I'm not really familiar with RA2 and it's limits, so I'm sure this is a great achievement, but will this also work with TS? I mean, did you edit and add a lot or just remove hardcoded limits? Will the scrolling errors lag (lagging when scrolling) still occur? If that is the case in RA2, then the fact we have it is great, but it'd be rather useless for non-online maps #Tongue

You mean you actually tested the map and tried scrolling around etc. or just a 'does-it-crash' test?

You gotta know that with cliffs, trees etc. the map may not work... Or did you test that as well?

Such large map sizes are potentially more useful for single player maps. You can have several "Missions" played over just one actual scenario with multiple possible paths using map resize and teleport all units triggers in a similar way to how the time travel section of the YR soviets first mission works.

Oh dear sweet Mod... I get it. Guys, he's been saying that this map is supported on YR too, for playing... but this map... the reason it looks kinda bad is because CV didn't make it.

I think he expanded the Random Map Generator to include sizes like this.

I am in awe.
