Subject description: Help.

I was put in charge of assembling a play list for an all-night Halo-2 party. I'm only assembling seven hours, because I intend to go through my playlist twice. The people (about 16) have very mixed interests in music, so I need stuff from about 10 genre's, including:

Rock/Alternative/Etc.
Techno
Aggressive Classical (stuff like "Duel of the Fates" or "He's a Pirate")
Aggressive Celtic/Dulcimer/Etc. (I don't know of an example for this)
Country (I currently have like one song. Country doesn't work well for Halo Confused )

I only have about three hours of music right now, and any suggestions for music that would get people in that Halo-ish mood would be appreciated. Please try and suggest songs with limited cussing.

Check out Project 86

There's a band called Red you'd really like

Quote:
Aggressive Classical

Tsiolkovsky - 1812 Overture
Holst - Mars from "The planets"
Stravinsky - The Firebird Suite
Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries
Beethoven - 5th symphony

Quote:
County

forget the country. Listen to fingernails on a chalkboard instead #Tongue

Hey! I like country! I just can't find any for Halo #Tongue

"Listen to Your Heart" was good, but it wouldn't quite the mood for shooting people at Halo. That is the kind of music I really need. I was already considering "Everytime we Touch" as a possible song for the Playlist, but I'm not sure it's quite a song for the Halo mood either... Fourth song: no, for the same reason as "Listen to your Heart".

OK, I should have said this before: No rap or R&B. No-one at this party can stand it, myself included.

No go on the Project 86 song. "Breathe into Me" is now on my playlist, though. Thanks for that one, Blackster.

What, no Celtic and such from anyone? What a surprise... not! #Tongue Laughing

OK... when I said "Classical', I didn't mean real classical, like Beethoven style classical. I meant more modern stuff like LOTR, Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean stuff.

well Loreena McKennit has some good Celtic, but I don't really go for the pagan lullaby type stuff...

Enya isn't quite celtic, but she has some good stuff out there

Lord of the Rings soundtrack is really good

And Red, buy the whole "End of Silence" CD - it's got all kinds of good stuff on it you might want

I agree the LOTR sountrack is good; I have it.

Okay I'll see what the End of Silence CD looks like and then I'll decide to buy it or not.

Any links to preview the Loreena McKennit or Enya stuff? I'll check Google, but it's been brought up elsewhere (nowhere in PPM) that I suck at finding anything on Google. I can never quite get the search terms right...

Lol. Im going to give you real shit. Country, included. Go ahead and call me a hick, you idiots.

A3 - Woke Up This Morning

AC-DC - Big Balls, For Those About To Rock...

Eddie Money - Two Tickets To Paradise

Foghat - Slowride (full version)

Iron Maiden - Aces High, Alexander The Great, Mother Russia, Run To The Hills, Tailgunner, The Number Of The Beast, The Trooper, Wasted Years.

E-Type - Russian Lullaby

Guns N Roses - Welcome To The Jungle

Sir Paul McCartney - Live And Let Die

Joe Cocker- Woman To Woman

Johnny Cash- Cocaine Blues, Folsom Prison Blues(uncensored, of course!), (With June Carter Cash: Jackson)

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Three Steps, Free Bird(Full, of course.), Sweet Home Alabama

Thunderball (who the hell sings this?)

Will Smith- The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Theme(Im ztyping serious)

John Williams:

Jaws- Jaws Theme (duh)

Jurassic Park - High Wire Stunts, T.Rex rescue & Finale, Eye To Eye

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Rescuing Sarah, Visitor in San Diego, Ludlow's Demise, The Compys Dine, The Raptors Appear, The Hunt.

Desert Rose Band- One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn - Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man

The last two are country, and probably not good or HALO, but country is kind of hard to fit in a shooter..so, I am trying.

Also, go get Japanese Girl. It owns your face.

Yes I know, I said this twice.

I am not going to take the time to respond in here to every individual song. I'll just say some are making it but almost all aren't.

Thanks for the effort!

Edit:

I stand corrected. None of that is making it.

@ Tyler: I have the Halo 2 OST. But we have sixteen people and they all said (including me) that one set of CD's all night would be too boring. And I can't contact you on MSN; I don't have any sort of Instant messenger, unfortunately. Look up my MySpace, which shares this screen-name.

@ Chrisse: Thank you, Mein Teil is now on the soundtrack.

@ ChielScape: Please, less cussing in English songs. I couldn't care less about what's in non-English songs (no-one will be able to understand the lyrics anyway), but I would prefer to have a lot less cussing in the English ones. Also, by 'Halo music', I meant music that is great for me killing bad guys, not for being the bad guy killing people. I don't want songs that sound so, well... evil.

Edit: My MS Screenname is Owen: The Elf Jedi. There's a colon in it.

Many are good songs, Friday... but not Halo. Remember, this is for 16 West Coast US Teenagers playing Halo. Rock is always appreciated. Laughing But this is ironically balanced by the fact that all 16 are Church-going die-hard Christians, and won't put up with more than one or two cuss-words per song. It makes it extremely difficult to manage music, and to find music and/or have music requested. I appreciate that you're trying, though.

It isn't helping until your songs are on the playlist.

OK, I can be a bit more free on music selection, because only 12 people are coming now.

Music definitely on the list. Some songs won't seem like they should be on it (IE the Christmas songs), but I found versions of them that actually work quite well.
(Note: the list appears to be in no order because it's ordered alphabetically by genre, but the genres aren't listed):

*LOTR OST: A Storm is Coming (2:52)

Yeah, for the most part both suck, but these couple of songs by them were pretty good. And you can't have a Halo party without the last man standing song (Savin' Me). #Tongue

These songs are a must if you can get your hands on them:

Yeah, and this list had a lot of good songs.

Actually, I was trying to find those Kutless songs, eventually I did. Another good one I might add is "Promise of a Lifetime". I'm also thinking "Not what you see"...

As to the O.C. Supertones: Yeah, there were a few more songs of theirs I wanted, but I only have one of their albums.

"Breathe into Me" was already on the list from your former suggestion... #Tongue

A bunch of those songs are from the "X2004 Christian Rock Hits" compilation... do you have it too? Anyway, I'll put some more songs from that album on.

'Hypnotized' and Aftershock might be on the playlist (I have that album), but I haven't checked out the other songs yet.

">Tobymac: Phenomenon (all three versions rock!), Diverse City [Remix], the Slam, Ill-M-I"

'One Phenom' is a remix of Phenomenon. I like the other two, but I'm afraid they don't quite make the cut.

OK, screw trying to respond to every song. The list is too long for that... I'll just say this, I've only checked out like half the songs, and I've already added like a half-an-hour to my playlist. Blackster, that was a big help, thank you. I'll spend like the next couple hours checking out that music while I browse all the Forums/Community websites I have membership on (like 12 sites).

I'm not hosting it, I was just put in charge of the music. And with the set of people coming under the now-revised number of players, I shouldn't get too much complaining because they will all realize how much work it took to make the playlist.

I'm only assembling seven hours, because I intend to go through my playlist twice. The people (about 16) have very mixed interests in music, so I need stuff from about 10 genre's, including:

16 is now 12, though. And I have slashed all genres not listed here from my list.
