Subject description: how to get working td cameos?
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi there,

I'm just keep trying to change the TD95 cameos. I'm changing the text of the cameos which I exported from the original winticnh. I have changed the text under the cameo (like obelisk into stg else under the cameo picture) then I deleted the original file from the winticnh.mix (also changed in deseicnh.mix and tempicnh.mix). But my result is just a big black nothing in game istead of the icon. I would be grateful if someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I need a detailed walkthrough for this.

First of all, make sure you have a backup of the original mix files.

Second, make sure you are saving SHP (TD) files, because the SHP (TS) files will not be read by the game.

Hmm... so even with SHP (TD) format, you are still having problems...

Check if you are using the correct palette.

I think I do. I'm selecting exactly the TD palette. Or I have to choose it at saving? I checked my cameos with xcc mixer and it can see my cameos correctly. But the game isnt.

I have no idea of what is your problem. Have you tried to replace your cameo with another random cameo?

Crap. Maybe if you write down with detail the whole cameo making from the beginning with these options (you should try it as well, if u can): export original icons from TD95. Now you load one icon to your program and changing the white name under the TD cameo manually into something else. (For example exporting afldicnh.shp from winticnh.mix and changing the airstrip word by pixel to pixel into air.) Ofc b4 you start working you change the palette to TD and you check that everything is okay in the options -> shp type -> TD menu. Have to be chosen the cameo ofc. If you are done you "save as" and check that you save it into shp (td) and not shp (ts). You think youre cool. In my case I wasnt. You delete the original afldicnh.shp from the winticnh.mix (try it also with tempicnh.mix and deseicnh.mix) and import yours, compact, save and you are excited. Start TD and launch a map (dont load to be sure) where you can build an airstrip. Insted of your new icon, a black hole appears.
This is how I tried this. Also I tried b4 saving with cameo generator, it was a failure. If I forgot something thats why It dont wanna work inform me. But it looks for me that you have forgot something in your program dude. Have you tested it? Please spend a little more time on this.

I won't try it, really... because I'm overloaded with real life issues.

Now I discovered that the original TD cameo files are WIN.format and not SHP. This can be a problem easily. The fact that the program doesnt contain an shp -> win converter makes me sad.

Maybe because win is actually SHP (TD). If you have any doubt, check it out on XCC Mixer... (And you can save files with win extension on the SHP Builder)
