Do you support Plug'n'Play mods?
For those who doesnt know what Plug'n'Play mod is, it's quite simple... If you wanna make one, go to those good sites like YR Argentina, RA2: Savage War and C&C Origin. Get the graphics from there and put in your units. Then, all you need is to code them, but if you are still lazy enough, go to Sleipnir Stuff and get some codes from the open source topic (and also a visit in the voxels and shp forums for more graphics for your mod). After everything is coded and an extensive text file with the credits is done, you release it... your plug'n'play mod. All it needs is coding and some tests to assure it works well.
The first advantage of this mod was speicified above: built time. It`s very fast...And there are others... these kind of mod usually focus gameplay. So, they usually arent boring mods at all...
But at the same time, it's not inovative. I mean, what you see in this kind of mod, you saw somewhere before and also the units and the gameplay gets repetitive even if you play different pnp mods, because the units are still almost the same. The quality of the graphics are also not considered good, because in the majority of the times, the original graphic is not made for the mod needs. Or... the person who made the graphics didnt made proper damage or build up animations (which sometimes happens). Also, the voxels are sometimes affected by wrong skins.... the author makes a skin not focusing the exact usage of it in the plug'n'play mod.
Now, there goes my question:
Do you support plug'n'play mods?
a) Yes, I make them
b) Yes, I play them as long as they have credits
c) Yes, I play them not caring for credits
d) Yes, but I just cover news from them
e) No, I hate them!
Post your comments about it....
PS: Although we have the option c) here, note that we DO NOT support plug'n'play mods without credits. The effort of the original author on making his graphic must be recognized. QUICK_EDIT
my mod is part plug&play (actually a lot of)
but my reason is i SUCK at every type of graphic creation _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
im part plung n play because, like turalyon, i suck at graphics, but i will be getttin new graphics once i get some more staff, like voxel and shp makers
lol, I hear that. I'm a PnP guy also as I to have absolutely no graphical talent whatsoever. I might try cutnpasting some structures together but there's no guarantee how well that'll turn out... QUICK_EDIT

You should check PPM tutorials more often... and remember that some of RA2 ones might serve to TS and vice-versa when they are related to .shp and voxel files (because the format is the same, although the size isn't). _________________

legal by the letter of the law, but not by the spirit of the law.
Some shareware programs have advanced things that record what times and dates you use a program, so changing the clock doesn't work. I've encountered that twice. I have been unable to figure out where the programs recorded the information.

and now there is a method of converting G-max models to Voxles.
care to elaborate? I know about 3ds2vxl but I don't know (although I've been trying to figure out) how to convert from gmax to 3ds
Yet some better '30 day trial programs' still work after the 30 days and just take a couple extra seconds to load to try and drive you to register *cough*TibEd*cough* WOW! did you here that? it wasnt me though QUICK_EDIT

I have one question. Who cares if theres credits in the mod? I mean all credits do is take up space, and most people don't steal stuff from other mods so whats the point to them? _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. Sure, I'd be happy to credit Turalyon and others for their small contributions to TSTW. It's just logical. BTW everyone should make a readme file anyway, so why no credits it it? QUICK_EDIT
sorry if i was insulting you i just wanted to say that my mod isn't just thrown together _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
