Spotlighted voxels discussion
Well, I and some other people have noticed that some of the spotlighted voxels doesn't match the quality standards of these days and some of the non-spotlighted voxels are much better than some of the SP'd voxels. Some non-SP'd voxels earns to be spotlighted but for some unknown reasons moderators have forgotten to spotlight them. Think about a newbie member that comes to PPM and decides to check spotlighted voxels forum and suddenly finds out some poorly made voxels. Also, some of the voxels at SP'd sub-forum has possible broken download links.
I want to know your opinion about that should or should not a spotlighted voxel be de-spotlighted, and why?
PS. If most of you like the idea of cleaning up the voxel forums, I'll hire some people to suggest me what voxels should be de-/spotlighted. Last edited by DonutArnold on Sun Nov 02, 2008 12:29 am; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
Well you're right about one thing, that the quality have been improved in the years, but so has the tools for making the voxels. So, i'm still neutral to this. _________________ R.I.P Xeno.
Yeah i think the voxel fourms should definately be sorted out, its too messy at the moment with a lot of good voxels still not spotlighted and not so good voxels spotlighted as said quality certainly has improved and this should be shown in the spotlighted forum. _________________

Chrisse, does mention a good point. Many of the voxels present in the spotlighted voxel section were made long ago, well the tools weren't really good.
It might seem "unfair" to despotlight a voxel based on that the average quality has increased a lot.
I do think that the section needs to be "reevaluated", because it's a place where you're supposed to find the best of the best (at least in relation to public stuff).
But as I mentioned, it's also a place where the artist gets recognition for it's hard work. However the quality of the different voxels there, even those of uploaded in a similar date, varies a lot . QUICK_EDIT
here's my idea how to add some order into the SP'd forum
-the old SP'd voxels, which count now to the classics and don't fulfill the current voxeling standard, should be moved into a subforum called "the masters of the early years" or whatever
(maybe use as a date to count what's old and what not, the release of the first full working 3ds2vxl version / or VSE version with good autonormals)
-every SP'd voxel that doesn't fulfills the first point should be despotlighted (and of course spotlight all the outstanding voxel in the normal forum)
-since there are so many spotlighted voxels, there should be a subforum for RA2 Naval,Ground and Air voxels and a subforum for TS Ground and air voxel (or the voxel artist has to give the topic title a certain and clear shortcut, so the search function can do the rest; e.g. my tank [RA2][Ground]) _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings

I agree with LKO's except for subdividing into air naval ect but how about adding a tag to the description or title [NAVAL] [AIR] ect next to the [TS] or [RA2] tags which also need updating Last edited by ORCACommander on Sun Nov 02, 2008 1:03 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
Yeah. I dont see that separating them into "types" is necessary; theyre all voxels and most of the time you can tell what it is by the title anyway eg "heavy tank", "apache chopper" etc. None of them have random names iirc.
I'd also say just demote the old ones but its like saying Ra1 looks crap because its old. QUICK_EDIT
