Hey everyone,

During all these years of PPM, I've seen a lot of people being bashed, blacklisted and banned for not understanding how and when third party resources should be used.

We know very well that not everyone has amazing graphical skills, nor the free time to do all graphics alone for their mods. For this reason, we estimulate users to share their voxels, SHP files, maps, 3D models, etc on our forums. The resources shared here are free, doesn't cost a single cent at all. The public mods that we host here are once released for free. And on both cases, people spend countless hours working on it.

What do they gain with it? Usually, recognition for their skills, which allows them to participate from strong projects, or it allows them to get hosting here easily, or simply allows them to get known by their skills, among others. Some of them may even use these resources to show their skills for a real gaming business, to get real jobs. Also, practice makes perfect, isn't it?

So, understand that, by spending countless hours working on their mods or resources, people have the right to determine what can be done with them, which is what we call liscense. Resources or mods usually bring a readme file with information about it, as well as the liscense.

Most of the resources you see in the web can usually be distributed or even modified without many limitations, but it must be understood that people also have the right to refuse to allow the usage of their resources on other public mods for one or more of the following reasons:

-> They want their mod to have exclusive resources and a unique appearance.
-> They may not want that specific mods or individuals may use their hard work.
-> The quality of the resource may not reflect the quality of what the person is doing nowadays.
-> etc.

Every third party resource that you use in your project must be authorized and the author must be credited. You may know how to be authorized by checking the readme file of the resource or mod. If they do not include one or don't mention it, consider the following standards:

Public voxels, SHPs and 3D Models posted on Media Hut subforums and public resource sites (like YR Argentina):
-> Resources may be used on public mods, as long as the author is credited.
-> If you modify the resource for a public mod, you must request authorization from the author.
-> If you want to share a modified version of this resource to public on media hut subforums, you need to ask authorization from the author and provide proper credit for him.
-> If you are using this resource in your private mod (not published and mentioned in the internet or any public media), you dont need to ask any authorization or credit the author.

Resources from public mods (hosted on PPM or not):
-> You must request authorization from the mod leader and the author of the resource to use it in a public mod. If authorized, you must credit the mod that use it (make sure you include the URL of the mod as well), as well as the author.
-> You must request authorization from the mod leader and the author of the resource to modify it in a public mod or share it in Media Hut subforums and other places. If authorized, you must credit the mod that use it (make sure you include the URL of the mod as well), as well as the author.
-> You may use this resource for your private mod (not published and mentioned in the internet or public media) at your own discretion, but avoid asking help about how do you extract it.

Ignoring the liscense and these standards is a serious violations of the moral and ethical values of our society, because you are stealing all the effort that this person placed in this resource.

Project Perfect Mod Community will not tolerate this kind of violation, and users who rip resources thing here will have a life time ban.

So, I hope you understand and respect people's effort and reputation, even if you do not want to make your reputation here. You don't pay a single cent for these resources, then at least, respect the authors.

I don't agree. People tend to dissapear. So simply crediting the author for the original should be good enough.

Agreed. Sometimes there's no way to contact the author, so crediting the author should do the job.

Yeah, like maybe a month's waiting period (unless, of course, the creator is on vacation or doesn't currently have access to the internet) and, should the author see their asset used in the mod and disagree with its use in said mod, they can request it to be removed, and the mod creator/assembler will have at most a week to remove it.
