There's nothing to hate about driving in snow when you have a nice Jeep with which to do that. I get a certain sort of joy from needing to put my own Jeep in 4 wheel drive just to get out of my driveway. Ice is a completely different matter, though... _________________

the terms "communism" and "anarchy" came after his death as well
In any case however, I disagree that he was either of these.
"Render unto Caesar what is Caesars, and to God what is God's"
The "kingdom" he sought to establish wasn't an actual government as we would think of it, the "kingdom" was merely the cooperation of his followers together, with God as the "king" of moral law. In his teachings, he emphasized respect for those with authority and in the government, so long as it didn't contend with the morals of God..
For the scholars and hebrew rulers Jesus was like Stalin and Bin Laden incarnate (minus the killing part)...
He completely screwed over the power balance in the region, demolished the class system in Judea, talked about thinking for yourself, only to listen to God's law, and he disliked the rich getting richer and poor getting poorer.
So, yes, when you see his actions in context, he was indeed SUM OF DAT DAAAMN PINKO RED COMMIE ANARCHIST SCUM!

Be careful, some may care about that sort of thing
Well, they follow the beliefs of someone who was waaaaay ahead of their time at that moment.
I used that as an example to show how the hebrews thought about Jesus. A crazy madman bound to destroy the jewish faith and throw Judea in utter chaos.
In fact, all the prophets that started religions were... considered pretty crazy in their time.

Anyway, back to christmas.

Gosho was talking about Jesus, not you. Jesus was a hebrew revolutionary communist and anarchist. The term jewish came after his death. And I don't think he was a God or had any God powers either.
i know i was just making a joke of my user name (its not the easyest one to make a joke out of)

I am between,I like Christmas, with all the joy and such, but I feel bad when all I can give to the others are hugs, love and such.Plus,I feel bad because I celebrate Christmas only with my family, and not with the friends,as I am quite an VERY friendless guy, thing which is kinda making me...go nuts.
In fact,I think I got nuts long time ago... Last edited by Deformat on Fri Dec 05, 2008 7:32 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

Fine with me, it's not my ass that's going to be banned.
Name changes are fine, so long as
1: they are not imposters of other members
2: the identity of the member is easy to find (sig, avatar, or something.)
Admittedly these haven't been added into the "official" rules, but they were agreed upon during the last time there was an issue with members changing their names. (believe me, there will be rules about this from now on)
Not only that, but you're not even funny. No one knows you, you have no reputation, and you haven't contributed anything towards the forum.
Regardless, I don't even to mention how ridiculous these last couple of posts have been. Spamming, and being offtopic.. not funny in the least bit.
Seriously, there's no reason for this. _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

The original meaning of christmas as we know it was to honor the god of saturn, and it was called saturnalia. then the christians felt like they had to compete with the pagans, and said that jesus was born on the same day saturnalia was celebrated, and then adopted all of the roman traditions. There was gift giving and feasting, that was one of the points. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
Not quite true. The Christians were in trouble when it came to celebrations, because the Romans were known to set us on fire or feed us to lions. If we had started our own celebrations we would have been wiped out, so instead we simply celebrated along with them for different reasons. Easter has the Roman influences for the same reason.
The reason that it all carried on was because the Roman empire eventually fell and Christianity continued with the now long established traditions of the past.

The commercialisation of Christmas is a new beginning of the same thing, with the corporates and manufacturers trying to establish more traditions. QUICK_EDIT

You guys need to learn your Constantine.. 313 the Edict of Milan, he's the guy who made the ENTIRE roman Empire into a Catholic state - though basically he only renamed their idols and holidays. Instead of "Zeus" or "Mercury" the statue was named "God" for example. Same with the pictures of Mary, Jesus, moses, etc, that we know from history could NOT have looked like the figures they claim to represent.
Jesus was likely not born on either December 25th or 1 CE. Some historians say he was probably born about 6 BCE. _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

By the time the church fathers were thinking about Christmas, the christians already were pretty much everywhere in the Roman Empire and accepted(and the original peaceful christianity was killed off in favour for agressive political christianity). QUICK_EDIT
