Well I'm suprised this hasn't been posted yet.

What is your favorite band? Mine would have to be Led Zeppelin, and old english rock band from the 1970s.
All of their songs are great. But sure other bands sound all professional and enjoyable but they just don't give that Zeppelin Feeling. Yeah, it's hard to explain. Many know them as the greatest band of all time. Do you guys realize how many modern bands were inspired by them?

In fact in April me and a few friends will be playing what many know as their greatest song. "Stairway To Heaven" I'm sure some of you have heard it. Me, I'm playing the drums(John Bonham), my friend is playing lead guitar(Jimmy Page) our smaller friend is playing the bass(John Paul Jones) and an older student is playing vocals(Robert Plant)

Share your favorite bands. Please no arguments over who is better. (And I have a feeling that Disturbed will be mentioned Laughing )

Zeppelin is so ztyping overrated. They're not bad, but they're hardly as great as people claim they are. That said, I have their discography so I'm not a Zep hater either.

Anyhow, I can't really pick a favorite since I like so many with many different styles. If you go by my Last.fm profile, the obvious choice is Rush with Dream Theater at a close second.

Dream Theater is pretty great, I must admit. According to Last.fm, my most listened to bands, in order, are 3OH!3, Linkin park, and Breaking Benjamin, although that's really not accurate based on favorite. My girlfriend uses my iPod when she goes on road trips, and she's obsessed with 3OH!3, and when I sync it, it scrobbles the plays.

When it comes to actual favorites, I can't really choose overall. Just a couple top bands within Genres based on my iTunes:

Pop/Mainstream: 3OH!3 & Cobra Starship
Rap: Lil Wayne & Eminem
Rock: Red & Breaking Benjamin
Metal: Lacuna Coil & All That Remains
Instrumental: Steve Jablonsky & Bear McCreary
Classic Rock: AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix

I guess it would be Metallica for me. But then, I have a whole lot of bands I like, so it's hard to say which is really my favourite #Tongue

Don't get me wrong though, I like many bands. Including some mentioned like Jimi Hendrix.

I also like Cream, Nickelback, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Yeah, I'm mostly an old/modern rock fan. Metal ain't too bad for me I guess. People hate Rap because of the lyrics but the music itself isn't necessarily bad but I don't listen to it. I don't really like what people listen to these days, but that's just my opinion.

I like how Eric Clapton(Cream's guitarist) says that Led Zeppelin is good but unnecessarily loud. Take "Sunshine of Your Love" for example, pretty quiet.

So hard to truly pick a 'favorite' ...i mean it's just impossible to say that either compositions composed by James Swearingen is better than a song by the band Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space. You just can't compare the two... i mean you could try...but they're both so different...yet so good.

I'll just list and link to some bands i've been listening to lately...
The World/Inferno Friendship Society - The Apple Was Eve
The Aquabats! - Food Fight On The Moon!
Here Come The Mummies - Fenk Shui (live)
Kings Of Nuthin' - Rhythm & Booze
Queens of Everything - Victim
Tangerine Dream - Cloudburst Flight
Eluveitie - Tegernako
Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space - Cannibal Holocaust
James Swearingen - Invicta
Lard -70's Rock Must Die

I decided to url link instead of just put the youtube stuff cause it'd stretch out the page greatly lol. but seriously it's nearly impossible for me to pick a favorite when my range goes from Horrorbilly, Ska, Classic Rock, Punk, Orchestra, (some) Funk, ambient/synch stuff such as Tangerine Dream, and more. Of course i could potentially pick a favorite of each genre...but i'd probably also break each genre down into their microgenres LOL

I'll come in and post my favorites, these threads are always fun.

My all time favorite is Megadeth (Dutchy, your band owes the frontman from Megadeth their fame and success. :p). The brutally fast guitar playing combined with Dave Mustaine's raspy and 'thrashed' voice compliments the thrash metal band perfectly. A good second goes to Twiztid, the same band that Aro posted up above me. Coming in third would be Bring Me the Horizon, a hardcore/screamo band that's picking up steam around the country. I guess you'd have to put my favorite rapper of all time as Tech N9ne, and my last notable mention band would probably be Slayer.

3 Doors Down
A Day To Remember
Alice In Chains
Black Label Society
Chevelle
Collective Soul
Hollywood Undead
Disturbed
Metallica
Mudvayne
Rammstein
Rob Zombie
The Buzzhorn

...yeah, stopping there before I get ahead of myself.

Too many but still:

Metallica
Iron Maiden (those Iron Maiden/K-On! parodies just piss me off Mad )
The Offspring (cuz the 90s was epic!)
Rammstein (Deutschland fick ja!!)
Dragonforce
Fear Factory
Disturbed
Breaking Benjamin
The Hives
Sonata Arctica
Slipknot
Linkin Park (yes, I still listen to them even though they're not as good as before. They even had The Catalyst been made as the theme song for Gundam Extreme Versus)

the list goes on...

Lil' Wayne, seriously? To me his voice often just sounds really really annoying. Sometimes it's it's bearable, like in the first verse of "No Love", but in the second verse (Eminem's verse) he still won't shut up and his voice really starts to get on my nerves then Mad

A couple of his songs annoy me, but most don't. My favorite is his song "Drop the world"

Yeah, that one is good. At least there Lil' Wayne shuts up while Eminem is rapping though #Tongue

Edit: A while ago I actually edited Out Here Grindin' to cut out Lil' Wayne's verse because it just made the song unbearable to listen to... The edit turned out pretty well too... Want it? Razz

On one side: The Sex Pistols, Ramones, Blitz, The Exploited, J.M.K.E ; on the other: Foo Fighters, RHCP, Creed, Hendrix, Metsatöll.
Some of the new carpet beating music is bearable, most of it isn't...
