huh? I have no clue what you're talking about. Turrets of SHP units are only 32 frames/facings, not more not less.
What do you mean with offset in this context? If you mean the FireFLH and in turn the weapon firing animation, then this has nothing to do with the turret of an SHP unit as these are 8 completely independent animations. And also only 8 and not 32 like the turret.

If you give a turreted SHP unit a firinganimation via FiringFrames in art.ini, only the chassis will be animated, but definitely not the turret (except i missed that RA2 has a completely different SHP unit format/logic).

I also don't know what you found so difficult and what you mean with the "(32*7 / piⁿ * Ω³...)" nonsense. Confused

360/32=11.25° steps for the 32 facings of the turret
360/8=45° steps for the 8 facings of the 8 independent weapon firing animations
Nothing complicated here.

The "(32*7 / piⁿ * Ω³...) nonsense" is the calculation of the offset being the reverse of the FLH, then converting that measurement for 3DSMax. That way, when the turret fires, it would show that animation over the turret, making a fake firing sequence without the "bullet" having to come from the center of the turret. But it won't work the way the building is set up since the turret would need to be smaller than the building itself in isometric view.
Did forget that there's only 8 directions on animations though. #Tongue

I haven't check a thing yet. I still waiting for Cranium to send me some of the stuff I haven't got at PM.

Maybe I need to check him again on MSN later.

Anyway I will check everything when I can. But now I'm not having it nice. I'm with pain and so on, but I will try to do it.

I was in a Car accident but I hope some can wait some more days so I can recover myself and I need visit doctors and so on.

Some kind of Grand Cannon remake.

Originality: 15/25 points

Base defence remakes are common, but I haven't seen many 2x2 defence remakes.

Functionality: 15/25 points

I ain't sure if the firing anim would work the way you intended. Still, coders can use the generic turret if the firing anim fails. I also fail to notice what the active anim actually does. I see some kind of shadow movement at the bottom, but not much more.

Cohesion: 5/25 points

The lack of textures makes it hard to fit in with any of the current
factions.

Aesthetics: 5/25 points

It seems to be lacking textures. I ain't sure if this is intentional or not. Because of this, it looks really bland, and doesn't fit in with any of the
excisting armies. The buildup anim isn't that spectacular either, but it is
there.

Total: 40/100



===Joshy===

Game: TS/FS
Animated: yes
Cameo: yes
Buildup: no
Snow version: no

A remake of the Firestorm Generator.

Originality: 25/25 points

The Firestorm Generator is not a structure I'd see someone remake soon.

Functionality: 25/25 points

As it uses the same anims as the TS Firestorm Generator, you don't need to fiddle around with ini files to get it to work.

Cohesion: 25/25 points

It would fit in with the other GDI structures from TS.

Aesthetics: 15/25 points

It looks really good. For me, this is the best-looking structure in the whole
competition. It's a real shame you didn't include any real buildup anim,
or made a snow version.

Total: 90/100



===LKO===

Game: TS/FS
Animated: yes
Cameo: yes
Buildup: yes
Snow version: no

An alternative Nod Tiberium Silo from the looks of it.

Originality: 22/25 points

A Tiberium Silo remake is not done much. It also has a similar style as the Nod structures in TS, compared to the normal TS Silo.

Functionality: 25/25 points

As with Cranium's entry, this one has everything: buildup anims, active anims, and a cameo.

Cohesion: 25/25 points

This can fit in with the global Nod theme in TS with no problems.

Aesthetics: 20/25 points

While it has everything needed to be used with no problems, the design looks odd to me. For some reason, it looks really fragile, with the small beams and glass. I do like the remappable glass, and the glowing logo. As with Joshy, shame it didn't include a snow version.

Total: 92/100

Eh, I should've tried harder, just wanted the contest to happen. #Tongue Got too involved in making pointless animations and textures got lost in the mess. Btw, was supposed to be Aquatic. (Didn't know I made an active anim)

there were 2 other judges, however Aro notified me that he might not have time to do it anymore, and Anderwin was in car crash. So I guess if we are going by Dutchy's scores me and you tied. As for the previews of the entries I'd like to see them as well.

Screenshots of each submission and a zip containing all submissions (with included subfolders, one for each contestant)

There should be also a new topic started for this, which for now gives only a summary (pictures,zip,description) while it will be later modified to also include the final score of all three judges.

There wasnt much interest last time, and I doubt there would be any in the next one either. These types of contests just dont do well anymore. But then again there really isnt a whole lot of shp'ers here with free time anyway. So chances are, it may be a long time before one of these arise again.

@Dutchy, any progress on the screenies or previews?
