say what you want, legos are still awesome.
After some years, I took mine out again in anticipation of doing a full blown art project for college. Yes, you heard me right: a giant honking lego art project for college, which is ultimately due next spring. I thought I'd make a lego topic to track my progress on the whole endeavor.
To start off my adventure I'm practicing on LDD, and deciding how useful it will be to me for the art project. I'm using the few models I still have together, and recreate them digitally before I disassemble.
What you see below is some kind of attack/transport heli with rotating laser things, and a rope for swinging down. I make it in 2008 ish, the original idea was to use all of my pieces with the number "3", as you can see. I've also attached the lxf file.
The long shape of the helicopter is really interesting, because the helicopter is very sleek. Would be nice to see things like this in VXL.
All helicopters are either small and chubby, or huge and fat. No long thin helicopters. QUICK_EDIT

Ever seen an apache? a commanche? a cobra? They're all fairly long & thin. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT

You may have seen this one before, here. I revamped the LDD model, since the first time I made it, it didn't have half the pieces due to not updating the program.
i am imagining a Lego Land...based on TS now...like...a life size environment and what not of one of the maps...with a GDI and Nod base in and lots of Lego vehicles... _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

This one is also from 2008, based on a generic forward-swept wing fighter shape.
The cockpit seats one pilot and one navigator, and dubs as a funky rocket-powered escape pod. Its main armament the big black bomb, and it blows stuff up.

Let's not get too technical.. GET IT? HAHAHAHA.
I based it heavy on mid-90's "town" style lego trucks, since that's what I grew up with. It has shock-absorbers, and a trailer hitch.. I could never decide what kind of trailer to give it. Any ideas?
You'll notice the 90's shocks and hinge roof were obsolete in LDD, so I had to make substitutes. Also, I made 2 versions:
It could be a great base for a Tiberian Dawn Nod flametank.
-window from the buggy
-2 big canister in the back
-tracks

AH! Finally some progress on the actual project. I thought about a ton of different approaches, and I figure the best (and most economical) one is to make a picture, convert it to bricks, and eventually add some interesting tidbits.
I'm still in experiment mode. I started by taking my classic face photo (you may have seen it before) and converting it into white, black, and 2 shades of grey.
Next I took a different picture, modified it a bit, and tried a few things with layers and diagonal pieces. My eventual goal is to take advantage of odd-shaped bricks, and avoid brick-as-pixel as much as possible.
