That's quite simple to convert graphics from Tiberian Dawn (C&C95) to Tiberian Sun. Follow the 8 steps below:

1. turn on the convert from TD option in XCC Mixer
2. convert the SHP to PCX
3. turn off the convert from TD option
4. turn on the Use for Conversion option
5. select the correct palette (probably unittem.pal)
6. selecting the PCX numbered 000 or 0000
7. right click on it and select "Copy as SHP (TS)".
8. turn off the Use for Conversion option

old version wrote:
6. select all of the PCX's (by selecting the first one, pressing the shift key, then selecting the last PCX and then releasing the shift key)
7. while all of the PCX's are selected, right click and "Copy as SHP (TS)".

Now you might want to repeat this process for the snow theater frames so it isn't invisible on snow maps in case you are making buidings.

Thanks to Kravitz for this tutorial.

Edit: Updated by Kravvitz. Thank you, DCoder, for reminding me that you really should only select the first PCX file. Smile

There seems to be a problem with this. I follow the instructions step by step, but it won't let me make a TS SHP out of the units. It says the pcx files must be named image ####.pcx, while the TD images only use 3 numbers.

Yea, you must save your picture in the following way:

nameofyourpicture 0000.pcx
nameofyourpicture 0001.pcx
...
nameofyourpicture XXXX.pcx

I assume there's a more efficient way than renaming every single pcx manually?

In fact, XCC automatically does that on step 2.

Not for me... It saves every file as e1 XXX.pcx

At least I think I'm converting them. I use "Copy as PCX" because I can't find any other option.

Hmm... then, you have to add a 0 before the other XXX part...

I dont know any tool that does it for you, although it wouldnt be hard to code one.

I'm not sure what the error is, apparently it's working fine for everyone else doing it. The version I'm using is 1.23, is it outdated?

1.27 is current, but there are some bugs in the older features.

I use 1.21. (I wrote this tutorial.)

IIRC, Irfanview has a batch conversion/rename tool that can do that for you.

Thanks a bunch Kravvitz, that bath conversion thing works like a charm.

However the damn XCC Mixer is STILL giving me the same error, it doesn't make any sense! They're all named e1 0001.pcx - e1 0532.pcx, but it says "Bad filename".

Select only the first frame, then click Convert as SHP(TS).
If you select not-the-first frame, you'll get the error, but it should still create the shp correctly.

Allright, I think I've sorted this out now. I can make a .shp out of the pcx files... The next problem is that the palette and animation sequnces are wrong, what's the best, most efficient way to solve this problem?

If you followed the directions exactly, it should have been converted to the palette you chose.

For the sequencing use OS SHP Builder.

Well, the palette isn't really wrong, it's just that the uniform isn't remapable. I'd like to avoid having to recolor it frame by frame.

See the palette wasn't wrong, you just ant to change the remaps.

Use OS SHP Builder to recolor it.

Where did you put the PCX files when you converted them from the SHP?

Why would I PM it to you instead of posting it here?

This was written for an older version of XCC Mixer, somethings may have been changed.

I just copied it as a PCX then continued.
