Welcome to PPM Discussion Zone. Use this place to talk about the PPM websites and forums. Post your suggestions, plans, ideas and the problems that you face it. Use this forum to talk about other community sites and state of the community as well if you wish.

This forum is now visible to guests and, that means that search engine bots may crawl and cache all content here. So, for this reason (bots), do not talk about the following subjects here:

- PPM's finances (except if it is about donations to the site).
- Moderation problems and behavior of forum members.
- Security problems from PPM and other sites, as well as server problems.
- Comments on problems from PPM partners (that includes affiliates and companies).
- Anything polemic under the US and Germany laws.

These topics should be posted at PPM Advanced Discussion Zone, which is not crawled by search engine bots.

Finally, likewise other forums in PPM, make sure you follow the basic rules such as:

- There should be no flames, warez, adult, pornographic material and any illegal content to the US laws are not tolerated, spams and offtopicness might be eliminated or crapped with no warning.

Final note: guests may not create new topics here, but they can post replies.

Enjoy the forums!

Banshee I'd really like it if you applied the post count feature. I like to know where I am up to at times Smile

It was removed because people spammed the ztype out of everything just to get it above Banshee's...

If you do a search of posts you've made, you'll find your postcount.

The forum isn't active enough for this to occur again I don't think. I'd really like to see them return.

Name changes were disabled due to similar fun. Team Black did something funny and then for a few days PPM was a giant name changing party.
I don't see either postcounts or the ability to change one's own name coming back any time ever.

The good old days are gone for good. Regardless of the forum activity, there is no more visible post count and name change. It's not interesting to promote spam here.

I don't see how bringing post count back will create spam. The community is dying a slow death due to inactivity, things need to be implemented to encourage posting.

When people start posting just for the sake of posting (as in for the sake of raising their postcount) it's not helping anybody however; all it does is creating the illusion that this site is more active than it actually is.

All very well Bittah but moderators exist to counter such behaviour and it's not like the moderators are going to have their hands full with all the "spam" because the site doesn't have that many people active and posting.

The best way to encourage posting is to create new public asset contents and mod updates. That kind of encouragement would increase, mostly, on topic productive posts. Where as re-enabling the post count doesn't really create the productive posts but rather gives more of a rise towards the spam posts.
And while yes there are moderators and part of that job is to counter bad behavior such as spam, the idea of a moderator is so that WHEN that behavior arises they counter it and it's the job of the forum rules/set up to prevent such behaviors altogether.
Finally banshee said they aren't going to come back and his word is law here. So not much point in debating it.

oh and nice changes to the site Banshee. Had me a bit confused the other day when I came to check on the forums and wanted to check the news but it's all good.
