How big are the bmp files (xy pixel size)?
Are you sure all have the same width/height?

Can you upload the frames so we can test it too? (you have to register here to be able to upload files)

Are you using the "Delta E CIE 2000" color conversion method? If yes, this is very slow since it has to do a lot of calculations to get the best result. And for 200 frames 7-10 seconds are nothing. I would give it at least 5 minutes to finish the job, especially when you have bigger images to import (e.g. 255x255).

Have you tried to convert only 10 frames to see if this works and how long it takes?
7-10 seconds are quite short for a big conversion job.

If the files are alot and are big, you should not be surpriced that it can't respod. I have the same problem, but instead of restarting and trying again, I wait and after few minutes it will be done importing. I think that it depends on the type of computer you have. I have a single processor, so maybe that is the reason. : D

Whatever you'll do, it'll be slow. More cores doesn't help on that.

From what I'd guess the importing is a linear operation and doesn't get benefits from multi-threading. Except that you can have spare cores to do other stuff meanwhile.

The whole program uses only one single thread. Truth to be said, this kind of operation could be programmed on GPU to perform faster.

Depending on the size of the picture, importing 200 frames may take time and the best medicine is to be patient.

Errrr... I think you did not understand what I said at all. Compression has nothing to do with importing images frame by frame.

We're sorry, the building you are trying to convert is too horrible to support SHP Builder
Please give up and try again after a decade of 3D modeling practice

(SHP builder is horrible and slow but that's all there is so get used to it)

While SHP builder may be slow, I use it all the time and the sooner you get used to it not responding, the better. Just because SHP builder is "not responding" doesn't mean the program isn't doing it's job, it just means you're too impatient. It's been this way forever.

Yup. Banshee said it himself. The codes are crappy and aren't optimised. It's open-source though, so anybody with a lot of free time are more than welcomed to fix the shitsniz out of it.
