Let's see your builds!
So, bitches and bitchettes.. I'm back in action after months of not having a viable computer (my laptop was gaming capable, but I couldn't really do content creation on it). Finally I managed to get a new build. Amazon decided to play fuck fuck games and refused to accept my bank account as payment, so I scoured craigslist...
My heart skipped a beat when I found this beauty, nearly untouched, for only 1500 USD. The guy said he wanted to get into PC gaming, but never did, so he got rid of his PC. I gladly snatched it up, did my own modifications to it (mainly lighting and cable mods(
I've got this sexy beast:
Case: CM Storm Stryker
Mobo: MSI Gaming Z170a M7
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k (yes, I'm riding the Skylake train)
CPU Cooler: LEPA AquaChanger 120
GPU: MSI Gaming GTX 980ti
RAM: 32GB DDR4-3200 Patriot Viper
Storage:
--Boot Drive: 500GB Toshiba Q300 SSD
--Storage Drive: 3TB Seagate MyBook (external, since I am on the move a lot)
PSU: LEPA 1000w Semi-Modular
Display: AOC 27" IPS LED Monitor
Extras:
--Logitech Wireless Keyboard
--Logitech G502 Proteus Mouse
--BitPhoenix Bloodred GPU, CPU, Motherboard and Front Panel extensions
--2x 1 meter strips of cool white LED strips.
--Triton Kunai Headset
--Logitech 1080p Webcam
--JBL Mini Pro Speake
I won't post a picture of mine, because my cabling is horrible, and it's not all that special anyway:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955, OC'd at 3.8 GHz (stock was 3.2 GHz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II
SSD #1: Samsung SSD 840 Evo 250 GB
SSD #2: Intel SSD 320 Series 40 GB
HDD: Some generic 160 GB Western Digital 7200 RPM drive from 2007
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97
PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 520W
---
Display: ASUS VH238 23" (1080p 60 Hz)
Mouse: Logitech G400
Speakers: Logitech Z506 5.1 Surround Sound System
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Still does almost everything I need it to do. Some rare operations in the latest versions of Visual Studio might make the program pause for a few seconds, editing large images in GIMP needs a bit of patience, and so does video rendering. I'd also like to have Arma 3 and Witcher 3 run a bit smoother and at higher settings. So, I'm looking to replace it all (with the exception of the Samsung SSD) around next Xmas, with 14nm GPUs and AMD's Zen (I'm not expecting to match Intel's Core i7s, but it could be a cost-efficient alternative) being out. _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
After nearly 10 years of use my WinXP machine with a first gen Intel Core 2 & 3gb of RAM is still going strong
I've also used the same trusty setup for at least 7 years straight Although lately I've noticed my ATI Radeon 4870 (GPU) is starting to show signs of old age
EDIT: Heh, I found the original thread (from 2008!!!) where I presented my then-new PC build: http://www.ppmforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=274185#274185 I haven't bought a single replacement and/or new equipment since then Only upgraded the OS from Vista to Win 8, then Win 10. _________________

Keyboard: Corsair K70
Mouse: Corsair M65
Audio: Dayton Audio 6.5" bookshelf speakers with a Lepai Tripath Amp
Headset: Corsair Vengeance 1300
Same as last year. No money for upgrades yet but I have some plans for that. No picture since the cabling sucks. Definitely getting redone on the upgrade.
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5 gHz
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake something
Mainboard: ASRock G41M-S3 (mATX LGA775)
RAM: 4GB G.Skill Ripjaws X (DDR3-800)
HDD1: 80GB Western Digital Blue
ODD: LG DVD-ROM
GPU: Intel G41M
PSU: SeaSonic 520-M Bronze (520W, Full Modular)
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2452mh @ 1920x1080x60hz (x2)
OS: Windows XP Professional 32-bit
That's my secondary machine, but it needs some upgrades. Plan on dropping in a pair of SSDs, doubling the RAM, installing my old GTX460 and swapping out the OS with Windows 7 Pro.
I also have a 2008 Dell Latitude D530 that was upgraded to a 120GB Corsair Force LS and maxed it at 4GB DDR2 RAM. Rather than XP, it's running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Lastly, I have a 2007 Mac Mini with a Core 2 Duo and a gig of RAM running Snow Leopard. I want to upgrade it to an SSD and 3GB RAM but no funds at the moment. _________________ KGR | AT

Same here.
My system is actually quite similar, except for the faster CPU:
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500, with minor OC to 3.5 GHz (Turbo disabled)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 7790 OC (1075 MHz Core) 1 GB
SSD #1: Samsung SSD 830 128 GB (minus 32GB over-provisioning)
SSD #2: Samsung SSD 830 256 GB (minus 47GB o-p)
HDD: External 2.5" 450GB HDD (Sandisk, iirc)
Motherboard: MSI Z77 something (cheap, can't even undervolt the CPU )
PSU: ~500W PSU, don't remember brand right now (not a cheap one at least)
---
Displays: Samsung something 24" (1080p 60 Hz) + Samsung something 22" (1080p 60 Hz)
Mouse: cheap Lenovo OEM mouse
Keyboard: some standard Logitech without anything fancy
Speakers: Logitech Z506 5.1 Surround Sound System
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Fast enough for almost everything I do. I'll probably upgrade the 7790 to something Polaris-based, though, probably P10-salvage (480 non-X). No intention to change anything else except replace parts when they die. This system will live on for several years, if nothing major happens.
At some point I might assemble a new gaming rig with Win10, 8C-Zen, 16 GB DDR4, 1 or 2 modern SSDs, and whatever gfx card I consider most suitable at that point, but judging by how few "modern" games or other demanding applications I care about, that might be unnecessary for another 2 years, maybe longer. Reaperr, could you PM me your experiences with it regarding OpenRA? I am in the process of getting an i5-2500k - GTX 750Ti based system (should have arrived by Friday) to replace my Athlon II 450 - Radeon HD3000 integrated toaster and while I felt it will look a bit bland compared to all the superstuff a lot of people runs, I assume it'll do well for running gen2-based mods on OpenRA along with PCSX2... _________________ "If you didn't get angry and mad and frustrated, that means you don't care about the end result, and are doing something wrong." - Greg Kroah-Hartman
