Zdraveite, to everyone! : )

Aside from the cyberspace, has anyone ever played Paintball?
I and my friends are considering to go and see what happens.

So:
What experiences you have from this game?
Is it brutally stressful or it is totally  fun?
Is it similar to the FPSes like COD2 or else?
What is the optimal range of the "bullets"?
Does the paint wash away easily?
Can you bring in your own equipment?
Is camping possible?
What weapons you have?

Advices would be nice.... Very Happy

Have a good  day!

"Zdravsti",

-Played a few years ago.
-It's fun
-lolno, it's real life
-Usually, you are told that you should keep about 5 meters IIRC distance, although that may vary depending on the guns.
-Usually, you get military camo/white clothing to put over your clothes, however you can easily get dirty on your shoes and that...well, takes a bit to take away. But hey, it's fun, and it doesn't matter.
-No idea, tbh.
-We only had one gun.

Advice? watch out and have fun #Tongue

Same as above ^

Emphasis on the shoes tho, I had to throw mine away after because they where so muddy. So either take some heavy duty boots or something disposable.

Wow! A sentry gun!  Surprised

Thank you, guys!

I will see to my disposable shoes...

Hmm...  5 meters is not much...

I hope the paint washes away...

I played several times back in my High school days but only once at an actual 'paintball' place. Most of the time it was me and my friends setting up stuff in the woods on one of our properties or of someone else who we knew and asked if it was okay for us to play on their property.  A few times was at an unofficial makeshift place that was 'considering' starting an actual paintball business/fields there but don't think they ever did.

but yea...I'd make sure anything you wear is something you don't want to keep, okay if it gets REALLY dirty, or you know washes out well. For the most part paintball paint comes out pretty well usually but i'd say don't chance it and just wear something you're okay with getting stained/getting rid of. Also just to note, all of the times I played I was never provided with clothing to wear outside of extra protective gear that the one place required such as a neck protector strap. One of the first times playing I didn't even think about what to wear...and wore a white t-shirt. I do believe all of the paint came out...but moral of this story is...you stick out like a sore thumb when you wear a white shirt...don't do it. Luckily I had also brought a 2nd shirt that day which was more of a woodsy brown color.

And yea there's generally a 'stay X distance away, preferably.' But also they usually calibrate the gun you'll be using so that it doesn't fire with too much pressure as well. (Again that's assuming you're playing AT a place of business and not just with friends in the woods lol) The actual range of the gun beyond the pressure setting depends on the barrel you have and what not. Generally longer barrels will increase range and/or accuracy a bit.

as far as it 'being similar to FPS games' meh. I mean depending on where you're playing and who you're playing with there's several types of game 'modes' if you will that can be set up. So yes and no. It all depends. A lot of times they have small fields with crates/barrels set up for taking cover behind with the entire idea being to eliminate the other players. Then the place I played at had a 'capture the fort' set up as well. Along with a capture the flag set up I believe. I've also played a type with friends where one team had to escort one unarmed person to an 'extraction' point without that person getting hit. And as for camping...again kinda depends on the game play that's decided on/ being offered. I'd just go with the flow.

As for own equipment...the one time I went to a place they allowed you to bring in your own equipment and in fact I think generally it's preferred though you can of course rent stuff there if you don't have equipment.

Overall....if you can take getting shot by paintballs, i'd say it's 'totally fun' #Tongue. Some people can't deal with it. One of the guys I played with a few time even went to the extremes of putting on winter clothes while playing one summer. Meanwhile many of us just played in jeans and t-shirts with the helmets. lol Also...if you're playing at a place with people you don't know...you should be made aware of the fact that some people take playing paintball VERY seriously and will destroy you especially if it's your first time ever playing.
of course this is all my experience from playing here in Ohio in the US. Not sure how much things differ or if it gets as competitive at paintball places over in other parts of the world.

as for my gear...the paintball gun I have is like this picture (still needs fixed from the last time I played and an o-ring broke due to a jam) as for the helmet I have can't remember what style/brand it was but it was a pretty typical paintball helmet:

I've seen some injuries but usually it's just minor bruising. Think only one time did someone get shot in the hand at a fairly close range and the finger that took the brunt of the force swelled up a lot and I believe the guy's finger might have even had a hairline fracture in it due to it. I got hit on my elbow once by a shot that kind of skimmed the elbow rather than hit and burst and it caused a minor scrape like cut. But usually just some bruising.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

I will try to not shoot at that close range.

I really hope the paint washes away, I don't want to switch clothes.

I also really hope the enemy team does not play harsh. Very Happy

I am back from my vacation!
Yes, I have played paintball!
Yes, I had fun!
Yes, the paint washes away!
Yes, I looked like a terrorist! Very Happy

First game - 1 frag.
Second game - 1 frag.
1 v 2 - 2 frags.

The suit made me move sloppy, It was good that there was a suit to protect me.
The range of the weapons is good. About 30-50 meters. After that it gets loose. There was a wind, so it was hard to shoot at distance. Since it was our first game, we were kind of scared to go up close and personal, so we were shelling each other from trenches or trees. The mask gave me a bad vission. Now I know how Stormtroopers feel like in these helmets. I could not hear as good as without the helmet, but I did not wanted to get painted in the face, so I kept it on. The team work was lacking. It seemed that my other friends were not as eager to go on the offencive as I did. I was always communicating with my team(too bad we did not had some radios). Dispite the lack of team work, we played quite fair - hit and leave, no headshots and firing on the weak (sensitive) spots, tough I think that the girls lost it at some point (thank God for the fallen tree and the concrete that was around).

Here are some pics:
