Well I didn't release the tech tree yet per commanders but the mod has different variants of units depending on which commander it will be placed. As for the Battle Fortress, I didn't implement it on the demo mod since it uses Npatch, but it was planned like this since the early build.

Battle Fortress (Vanilla Allied)
- Sensors only
- 5 Passengers

Battle Fortress (Laser Commander)
- Fires laser instead of mini gun
- 5 Passengers

Battle Fortress (Air Force Commander)
- Fires Anti Air missiles and mini gun
- 4 Passengers

Support Battle Fortress (Superweapon Commander)
- Has a limited radar jamming ability
- 4 Passengers
- Repairs / Heal instead of miniguns? <--- hmm

Mirage Battle Fortress (Special Ops Commander)
- 5 Passengers
- Has Mirage Ability

(Assault Landship) **Possible for a naval commander side for future addon
- 6 Passengers
- Can beach
- more health points
- slower

Any thoughts on the units?

a bit more uniqueness (bigger differences) might be nice.
e.g.
a hover fortress (could use a higher flightlevel to look like balloonhover. An attached rope ladder under it to show how troops can enter it without having it to land, could use high DeployTime to slow down passengers entering/leaving the vehicle)

a fortress which has a combined IFV logic (possible?), like first passenger decides IFV mode and the others are the opentopped gunners

a fortress which is more like a big APC (no vehicle crushing), has only 2 or 3 passengers, but is much cheaper and faster for some nice hit and run tactics

The CanBeach logic is broken and doesn't work, if that is what you meant? Making the Assault Landship amphibious would be better anyway IMO.

OpenTopped IFVs work, but the first passenger will fire out on it's own as well as triggering the IFV mode. I've had such.
