Do Repair Vehicles always need to be big and bulky?
If someone replies that it stores spare parts in the big empty part, no! How on earth would the claw target it first anyway?! There's no Ares logic! But, going back on topic, not bad of a voxel, I'd just need someone to explain why RVs need to be big  Razz

Because smaller vehicles cannot reach bigger vehicles than themselves (with repair crane/hand/tool/whatever you call it's turret), to repair them above. Bit big vehicle can reach big and small vehicle.
Personally I also do not care myself, I am using smaller vehicles to repair others, but you asked for explanations. Here is one.

Eh, maybe HEIGHT is the problem, and NOT THE WIDTH

KALAPS S8 said he used one of his heavy tanks for the base...

Yes, but if height is problem, then width is problem automatically as well because if you make vehicle big in height, but not increase its width it will look stupid, something like bus with several floors. Then you have proportionally to resize vehicle for aesthetic purpose. Also about functionality, you have long vehicles which are common, like trains and such, but not tall but short vehicles. In construction there are several types of such vehicles which has long cranes or similar, which exists indeed, but they are on fixed location, to build certain stuff as they do not have much of mobility. We talk about mobile repair vehicle, it needs to be mobile as well. Only case of tall mobile vehicle would be mech, just like titan/wolverine/juggernaut except it has repair arm. That could work theoretically.

Nothing is stopping you from making Repair Vehicles to be cute tiny Drones. Heck even Generals has them as tiny robots. And there's even an unused Unit for the USA which is a 4-wheeled RC-Car Looking Robot with a welder.

Exactly. This is game after all. You can make whatever you wish.
In Generals they are little more realistic, thus their repair tiny drones are flying. USA can upgrade vehicles with battle drones. They fly above its parental vehicle, closes upon it and repairs it. From air, smaller the better since it can get to any damaged part.  That unused drone is unused for reason. We do not know which method it would be used for repair if applied in game. But it is most likely that it got replaced with ambulance vehicle which has aura around itself.
