So I went for recoloring a certain building and most of my recolors are via Photoshop.

My way is extract SHP building/building anims -> recolor them via Photoshop -> copy the images and paste(Replace) the respective recolored building/building anims.

The problem is, for instance this activated Psychic Dominator:

When I replaced it, the color differs, just like some of my replaced recolored buildings/building anims(Even cameos) but this one is kinda aggravating. Instead the purple recolor that I made, it turned into somewhat blue instead. I know that the cause is the existing RA2 building palette but I seriously want to retain my desired recolor.

I know almost nothing except doing cameos and making snow buildings on SHP builder so there's something that I might be missed.

If you're needing that already fixed you can grab the one I did in here:
https://ppmforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=36571

Speaking of recolors... how I did it is by using a custom palette to view the SHP and using an unused color in the SHP Set as ones to replace from so that when they're converted back I can use the Select Color Index Tool in SHP Builder to recolor them to the desired bits.

On a beginners aspect, we can see that the unit palette has a different range of colors compared to Photoshop.

Photoshop uses a range of 255x255x255 colors, (with 0x0x0 = black and 255x255x255 = white,) whereas unit palette only offers 255 colors. My guess is that the SHP builder detects the closest color to the range of the palette and select the paste new color into the image that the palette it doesn't have.

I may be wrong about how SHP builder works and I'm not as knowledgable as other modders here. So, correct me if I'm wrong.

Honestly I prefer more a more purple-ish(So it feels more appropriate for me given the mind control ring on their heads is kind of dark purple) or maybe kind of pink-ish color.

Then again, tried and it seems I found out that the color table for building anims are too limited as I can't really apply my desired recolor. Maybe I'm wrong though.

You'll need to give it a custom palette (Needs Ares) then.

Yes I was thinking of that but I don't know how and where I can make custom palettes.

Palettes are called "indexed color tables" in Photoshop, googling that brings up multiple guides that show you what to do.
