Old, are we?
Ugh, i just realized i've been here since 2005, thats 11 years already, i wonder who else kinda "grew up" here? I know a few familiar faces from back then but yeah, damn it's been a long time.
I was visiting TiberiumSun.com before when it had traffic and the forum wasn't dead, there i met Hyper, and later Morpher & co...good times, now i'm 31 and feel old _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
Same here, I've visited PPM almost daily since 2005. PPM, TumSun and TibWeb were a big part of me growing up, but as time went on a lot of the people I knew moved on and thus the community doesn't have the same appeal or meaning to me as it used to. Nontheless, I still care about PPM, and wish all the good for it in the future. _________________
Anyways, when I joined I remember being quite a newbie with modding and asset creating, but I always had kind of enthusiasm towards creating stuff. With a lot of effort and time I've been able to create stuff I could have only dream about 11 years ago and much of that is thanks to this place, PPMSite. Without this place or C&C games (or modding capabilities of those games) I probably would have chosen different hobbies, education and career paths.
After 11 years I still like this place, I still have this fire to create stuff and to help PPM stay alive. Blender template and TS anim remakes are things I'm currently working with, and I hope they'll have somekind of an impact. I'm 26 now and I'm still willing to spend my time here. QUICK_EDIT

I was 13 when I joined, now I'm 21. Looking at my old posts makes me feel old, but looking at your stories makes me feel somewhat young again
I've naturally developed a lot since I joined. I had just picked up modding and programming when I started posting at TibWeb in late 2007. When I joined PPM, I was already a decent TS mapper, but worthless as a programmer.
My mapping skills and feedback led me to being included in both DTA and TI staffs in 2010, and nowadays I've made ~50 maps for TS and its two biggest mods. My code also powers the menus, CnCNet online gaming and update delivery for those same mods. It's been a great journey _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
Remember back in 2006-07, when everyone was hyped for the upcoming Tiberium Wars? This place was flooding with all sorts of discussion and theories about what the game might be like, and thorough analyzes of the first (and then only) trailer. and also silly whining because it seemed to disregard some Tiberian Sun artifacts such as component towers. Jeez guys.... Those were interesting times, everyone was excited for the new C&C game in years Generals had left a sour taste on some, and when TW seemed to return to the roots in terms of gameplay and FMVs, people were expecting it to be a success. Or that's how I remember it. Anyway, in retrospect it is a very fine game, on par with the classics, if not better in many ways. _________________ Last edited by Crimsonum on Fri Jun 17, 2016 9:03 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
Ya I was sort of pissed that C&C3 pretty much ignored TS, but C&C3 did grow on me a lot, And I did eventually come to like it, even to the point were I think I can say it was the best of the EALA run of games... _________________ MadHQ's Graveyard - Click here!

Im not so long here now like other people, I was 13/14 years old where I jointed this community in the year 2013, I followed the Dawn of The Tiberium age mod since 2012, wondering how much it changed, when I look at the old DTA verison (what i saved as a backup), then it allways exciting to see how easy it was in the old days.
Before I jointed this community I played alot with the Rules.ini of tiberian sun so I found thing like spawn other 2 fraction mcvs (sadly they never deployed lol ), then I wanted allways wanted to see how many units the neutral side destroyed (when you press TAB so the radar shows the destroyed units) and made it so that the neutral fration get shown too, so i allways knew how many units they destroyed.
At the end i allways moded the Tiberian sun retro mod, what was a epic mod (That reminded me on red alert).
Then I jointed later on the Multi theft auto community where i learned LUA scripting (From the user friendly wiki side.) Helped a guy, after he closed his server for medical reasons I left his server played on a other server with 900 Players learned good english got bored begann to look in this comunity again and here Iam QUICK_EDIT
oh yes, i remember finding your mod which blew me away cause it tried to capture the awesomeness we saw on beta screenshots of TS.
Still to this day my favorite mod to play. Time flies by eh?! _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
Randomly visited this site today, surprised to see some people are still keeping it alive. I remember starting modding due to Gangster's old mod Exodus. Joined in 2007 at the age of 16, but lurked around way before then, now I'm 26. Not sure if anyone remembers me, but thought I'd say something. _________________

Whether I still remember you?
Hell, I remember you had a kick-ass mod that was hidden in a forum. That forum is still hidden today (I think it's called Museum now?). IIRC you and Joshy did some pretty awesome shit back then.
I'm still curious to see those pics again
And then there's Mig, who keeps that awesome modding torch since '99 QUICK_EDIT
Am I old yet? 16 - 26? I feel old, considering I've been modding since Tiberian Sun was released. Granted it's no C&C1 but still.
EDIT: @Mig Eater - TibSun was 1999? Well dang, I was 11.
Before this site I was actively browsing RADEN and Renegade's forums. Of course, I never posted any mods or media as I knew they weren't up to snuff to bother releasing, though I did experiment with the rules heavily. This is back when we had a general understanding of not releasing horrible things or asking questions without experimenting first. Ah, good times.
@Ickus - Pretty sure alot of us made those convoy trucks buildable first, along with the howitzer in RA2. _________________ "Don't beg for things; Do it yourself or you'll never get anything." QUICK_EDIT
I've been banned a lot so my join date isn't indicative of reality. I was here way before PPM even had its own domain. At least since 2002 or 2003. _________________ KGR | AT

online since about 2005. back then on tiberiumsun.com only (which turned into tiberiumweb)
on PPM since 2006, though only became really active here when tiberiumweb went down.
Modding since 1995 when tiberian dawn was released.
My first mods were mod maps, where i've tried to find out how to create maps before i got any map editor.
Modding really started with RA1, where i wrote my own Pascal program to extract the ini's from the big Redalert.mix, which no text editor was capable to open back then. (i had no internet yet, so i had no access to mix editors etc)
Then came TiberianSun and i got the first editors from PC game magazines, which allowed me to extract the ini's from TS and do mods for it. Still no internet, so i had to teach me modding all by myself.
Then came RA2, modded it a bit, found it boring, went back to TS.
Got 3dsmax, created some simple models and finally noticed "hey, i can use this to create new SHPs". Created the first SHP unit, uploaded it to tumsun, people liked it and the rest is history. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
damn, i didn't knew some users like furry or lin kuei were SO long around. i mean, i remember getting RA1 when i was a little boy in 1997 and i played the shit out of it, my first mod i played came on a PC magazine disc, it added a shitton of units, mainly those "kind of units" we saw on screenshots because prolly we all were waiting for tiberian sun. i bought every magazine back in the day looking at the newest screenshots and tidbits which turned out to be ridiculous overstatements in the end, like "friend or foe" detection with light radius in day & night cycles and stuff like that.
so yeah...but i found the community way later.... _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
I actually first registered at Wagnerma.de's forums (FinalSun's site), even though I was more interested in modding than mapping (I pointlessly asked modding questions there and had people telling me insert art.ini code into maps and such).
I also tried to register to PPM (in 2002 I think), but my account was never validated for some reason until I finally sent Banshee an email about a year later.
So in the meantime I registered to TiberiumSun.com (a site I'd been visiting for ages at that point, without ever realizing that it had its own forums). And while their forums were dying, I somehow became a moderator at both Wagnerma.de and TiberiumSun.com (and after that TiberiumWeb.com). _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Been modding RA2 since the game came out. I started when I was 16 and that's 15 years ago now. Man, hard to believe it's been that long. _________________ KGR | AT

I was fifteen when I joined last year, I intended to make a large mod and upload it here.
I knew nothing about modding then so I deiced to learn about it, since then I have made three or four test mods that have never seen the light of day.
Aka I am really young compared to most people her, I have no clue why I posted here in retrospect.
(I did lurk here for three years or so without an account though.) Last edited by Isaac_The_Madd on Sat Oct 15, 2016 11:30 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
I joined in the 1950s but then Einstein's chronosphere malfunctioned and I was flung through time... That or I really need to get some more sleep.
I signed up only to not use the account for another two years. Then when I actually tried posting something for the first time I was asked to join TI... And now I'm kept in a small dark room chained to a computer that only has voxel editors and ppm access... halp. _________________

Damn, I come here to check out the good old times and I see a nostalgia thread.
I joined in late 2004. Was online at home since the beginning of 2004, I think. I was using a phone modem in the beginning, so I had to use it sparsely. I think it's possible I got normal internet somewhere in 2004, possibly not long before joining here, because that's when I stopped having tons of word documents with copied website texts (for some reason I haven't use the save page function in IE back then O_o ).
I used to use internet in web caffes and at library in 2003, though. That's when I learned about TS modding community.
I learned about modding TS itself in 1998, from a magazine that instructed how to copy the rules.ini file from the whatever.mix file using a text or a hex editor.
I remember polishing my English by typing grammatical structures I wanted to use in google and checking if lots of people use them.
I gave up on modding TS due to the AI disappointing me and stuff.

I was a lurker on tumsun in the early 2000's, where they had a huge collection of rules/art.ini "mods". I'd use those to teach myself modding.
in 2006 when I was 18, I finally got my own computer that I could use for modding (Win98), so I joined tumsun pretty much right before Felix went AWOL.
Joined Tiberiumweb and PPM, and started to get involved in things. Sort of went "mod-hopping" from Roani52's mod, to Rise of Omnious, TS: Dusk, TI, then finally reaching my goal modding for Odyssey.
When I bought my laptop I could finally mod like I'd always wanted. Pumped out a bunch of voxels and a few maps I'm really proud of. I kind of hit my modding stride in '08-'09 as Odyssey leader, TI co-leader, and XTX leader.
For various reasons it kind of fell apart after that. I think I was just ambitious and probably bit off more than I could chew. Also that's when I got my butt back in college, joined the Air Force and got a life
I still have every intention to finish a mod someday, but gets farther and farther on the back burner. That, and the Fall of Hammerfeststory. Until then I'm content to lurk around, moderate as needed, and post now and then.
A lot of good people in this community, who probably know me better than some of my IRL-friends. In my travels I've met Ixith, Corsair, and DaTS, all of whom became pretty good friends with IRL. Someday I'm going to take a trip to Europe - likely soon - and I intend to meet a whole bunch more of y'all _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story
