Went to use FA2 and keep getting this error, I've tried reinstalling and playing around with compatibility settings but nothing works.

This only started happening after a fresh ra2/yr install to get the cncnet5 client working again, any ideas?

EDIT: removing just rulesmd.ini from the RA2 folder fixes this, wonder what line of code in the rules is screwing with FA2? I suspect it's the houses, if that's the case is there any way around this?

Most likely a mix loading problem, or it doesn't have permissions based on where the files are (ie. Program Files)...

Nope it was the rules ini, I'm  certain its the houses and I need a custom  FA2 like MO. The joys of being a solo modder.

Retry with a fresh rules and map, making dbl sure Houses are the only difference.

I've completely replaced all the houses in my mod & FA2 works without any errors, so that's not the problem.

1. Take an original rules.ini. Works?
-No. Issue is something else
-Yes. Step 2

2. Replace first Section with your mod rules.ini. Works?
-No. Problem is in this Section. Step 3
-Yes. Step 2 and replace another Section

3. Replace Section with original rules.ini and change only first half of the keys with your mod rules.ini section. Works?
No. Step 3 and replace even less keys
Yes. Replace other half of keys

Continue till you find exactly which key/code is the issue
Shouldn't take more than 10-20 steps till you find the exact reason. With testing each time taking only seconds, this shouldn't take long to find out.

Could it be that you have a section that is opened using [ but not closed with a ]?
It looks like FA2 found something in an INI file that starts like a section, then assumes there's a ] and tries to replace that closing square bracket, it assumes there is one without further check. There is none, thus a function returns a null pointer (0x0), and that's where FA2 tries to write to.
