I can’t download it right now, but you should write a little about what it does Wink

I see no one downloads stuff from PPM. Been there since the beginning of time (Well not quite. Somewhere around 2003). The above is just the source code (Technically has the exe as well)

Yeah but that download doesn't have any description either, it's just a link to an exe!

Do you know what a mod manager is? Do we really need to explain it?

Definitely. Mod managers might all have similarities, but also have significant differences. It's useful to describe what sets one apart from another, because they are not usually interchangeable.

Its self explanatory... Its a mod manager for Tiberian Sun....

I obviously can't give you a detailed feature set as its from around 2003 as i said in the first post.

The whole point of this thread was just to release the source code i found on a old hard drive since the mod manager has been on PPM since about 2003 but with no source code.

Since people can't use google/ppm search:

this tool is most likely incompatible with todays client versions of TS, so any explanation how it works is pretty useless.
You would have to change the code and make it work with the different subfolder system of the client version anyway. And while you change the code, you'll surely find out how it works.

It’s probably also worth telling people the language the source is in. Wink
I’m guessing Pascal?

By the way I’m not trying to be unkind, I just think it’s helpful to have all the relevant information together with a download. If people have to research 15 year old forum posts to figure out what they’re downloading, they’re not likely to download it.

TS modding has moved farther away from just placing mix files in the game folder. With TS being freeware, mods are released as standalone and disk space isn't such a problem as it was in early 2000s. With hacking the game EXE and making clients to launch the game, it won't be possible to make mods like DTA or TI to simply transfer files to vanilla game and run it. This tool is far from usable anymore for current mods. Moreover, this one now starts with an Access violation, searches for Sun.exe (which isn't used anymore, game.exe is used) to locate the game, places files at the root of the drive if it can't find the game etc., basically it is in bad shape. Probably it is posted here for archiving purpose.

I started the first post with "Not that anyone will actually care". I indicated that its most likely no one will download it.

Everything i have worked on for CNC has been done in Delphi. Those without Delphi can likely just convert it using Lazarus.

As i have said this whole thread is just about releasing source code of an app which has been on PPM for like 15 years (And as such the code may be a bit crap anyway). Its not about promoting it.

P.S If its completely not usable then Banshee should remove it from the main PPM Site sidebar bit with the download (What i had in the screenshot above).

P.S2 You can be as unkind/insulting/etc as you want D2K, its 15 year old code. Its likely not the best code in the world (And thats saying it nicely). Im happy to insult the code.

I get that it's old code and it's for archival and not promotion. I'm just saying that even for archival purposes it's useful to have all the relevant information put together with the download.
Which I think it is now, so thanks!

I have plenty of old code in much the same situation, and I wonder if it's worth pulling it out and releasing it. Then I wonder if any of it is even compilable anymore. #Tongue
