They shoot ballistic misls at clear ground but when comes to tree they use torpedo and of cause denotes at shoreline.
So trees are not considered land targets and break the whole Naval/LandTargeting thing?

Trees are simple terrain objects with no special object handling, so units will default to attacking them with their primary weapon.

No no, he's saying TREES don't read things like verses or NavalTargeting and anything with a weapon uses its primary against trees regardless.

try the following
give CruiseLauncher a correct warhead:
Warhead=Special is complete crap as there is no such warhead.

Then make sure the CruiseLauncher warhead Verses has higher % vs Wood armor than APSplash2
e.g.
use Warhead=Super instead of Special

Then the game should notice that it's more efficient to use the cruise missile against trees than torpedoes.

Yeah, no. Game can't pick weapons like that.

As stated above this is issue with NavalTargeting not considering TerrainTypes. Verses is not considered when targeting them either, but for damaging them it is to my knowledge.

Just tested manipulating versus doesn't miraculously disallow it to shoot torpedoes at tree

and when you give APSplash2 0% verses wood armor? Making it completely unable to shoot trees. Maybe also set Wood=false.

After all there aren't that many wood armored targets on water, so it shouldn't interfere with the normal torpedo usage.

Units will still use their primary weapon to attack trees even if the verses are 0% & Wood=no, they just wont do any damage.

how about switching Primary and Secondary and adjusting Naval-/LandTargeting accordingly?

Emmmm, but there is no such NavalTargeting value makes the unit fire secondary against both above and under water

Just tested AG=no can actually prevent torpedo attacking tree but it also prevent the unit attacking clear water plus it doesn't know to switch to cruise misl when attacking tree so it can't attack tree at all Sad

RA2 weapon handling is trash, everything in water weapons is handled used the waterttargeting in the unit instead of in weapons, which is seriously inefficient and incomplete...
Same with anti-underwater and "AG" which actually isn't anti-ground but anti-CLEAR ground so you can't even disallow a weapon from firing at ground level, you need to set that in the unit. Such crap-.

Ares would do good in generating a new system for weapons picking in regards to water.
