Greetings Devs,

first let me say, congrarts to this amazing mod. Smile it brings back old memories.

so i have two wishes for the future.


Pls make an option for multi-language. I will send you the german sounds.mix and the speech.mix from tiberian dawn and red alert, if you need it.

and the second one is, pls make an option for activate the old Dos Icons.


That brings back that feeling from 1995. Smile

I wouldn't mind these changes, not sure what the other devs say though.
I have the german TD/RA1 as well, so we got that covered.

However adding the icons isn't that easy.
The DOS icons are only half the size of the SVGA version used in DTA.
They wouldn't look good when scaled up from 32x24 to 64x48 and a smaller sidebar for smaller icons is not possible.

In addition does DTA have a lot of new stuff (ships, enhanced mode hero units etc), for which new icons would need to be made from scratch.
If you want, feel free to start creating the necessary icons and upload them here.

However i agree that these more simplified icons have a certain charm and in hectic situations might be also easier to identify, so i wouldn't mind seeing those as an optional setting.

Couldn't you just rescale the DOS icons using nearest neighbor?

Do i understand you correctly that you got DTA in German ?! By changing the MIX files ?!

If so, then it would be great if you could send this to me. The 1:1 copy of the original game files in the stand-alone version did not work.

no, i just meant that you don't have to send us the german TD/RA1 mix files, as i have them too.

The main thing preventing translations is that the client doesn't support them. While it would be easy to code in support for translations, I don't find it a very interesting job to be honest. So I haven't done it so far.

Besides I think rules sync is gone once you translate it so would not be playing with the 'english' crowd and lowering people with separate online lobby with german option may not be so good.

To prevent sync issues when giving stuff translated names, the game reads langrule.ini and langfs.ini
Only problem might be tutorial.ini, because i don't think it has a langtuto.ini equivalent.

Ok guys, yesterday i download some tools and after 5 hours i mod it for myself. I have now all sounds (Eva, Units, RA and TD) in orignal german voices. Smile

It works very well.. Thank you for you assitance
