Hello all, i've been messing around with modding for about 6 months now. Mostly with a private MOD using other MOD's stuff to learn how to do as much as I can. Well now I feel i'm ready to make my own MOD using what I have learned.

As I have no talent for graphics whatsoever, I am using public assets. Unfortunatly that sometimes means that I have to settle for a less than
satisfactory graphic, but I will make due until I learn to make my own stuff.

I have been panning my MOD for quite some time now. All sides units and
tech trees are planned out. I haven't thought about a backstory behind it, for 2 reasons: 1- I'm not that creative, and 2- I think a storyline in a MOD
is like a storyline in a porn, just there because everyone thinks there should be.

Here is an overview of my vision for this MOD.

-Make each Country very different, not just 1 or 2 new units, but a significant amount of changes.
-I will be carefully balancing everything so no side has a obvious advantage, it will rely on the skill of the player.
-I want to make full use of the many features of the RockPatch that, if implimented properly, can enhance the experience in many ways.
-Hopefully not come across as a n00b MOD, but be taken seriously.
-Though I don't plan on making an official "public release" of my MOD, if anyone is really interested in it, I will be glad to share.

The main reason I am posting my MOD here is so I can have opinions from people who are experts at this, also to have a well documented progress report of it.

That being said, I will now go into the changes. And to keep interest high, I will not reveal all changes, but will rather spread out progress posts.

First there will be a total of 14 playable sides
First the Allies
-The basic Allied side, which I am currently calling the United Nations
-The USA, which will specialize in first strike and intelligence tactics
-The Republic of Korea, which will specialize in air power
-The French, which will specialize in chrono technology
-Great Britain, which will specialize in advanced technology
-The Germans, which will specialize in heavy weaponry

Next the Soviets
-The basic Soviet side, which I don't have a name for yet, but leaning toward the Axis of Evil
-The Soviets, which will specialize in tesla and flame technology
-Lybia, which will specialize in nuclear weapons
-Iraq, which will use revived technology, as well as chemical weapons
-Cubans, which specialize in acts of terrorism
-Syberia (may change), which is a completely different part of the regular soviet army, and as such, will almost be like a new side.

And finally Yuri
-Yuri main faction, currently no name, which uses the enemies mind against themselves
-Yuri other faction, currently no name. They will use mutation and poisons as their weapon


Before I start posting the good stuff, I want to ask the moderators here about how to go about getting my own subforum because the amount of changes will make this post extremely large, espicially with pics. Optimally I would like to make a subforum under this with each countries stuff to keep it well organized. If this is not possible, than I will make due with what I have here.

**Just wanted to plug something here. A thank you to Turn A Gamer of the now cancelled Retaliation mod. He helped me quite a bit while learning how to code. Another big reason is he gave me permission to use anything from Retaliation. Retaliation is what made me want to make my own, I liked the ideas he had, just thought I could do something more elaborate.**


-==From here down I will edit the post with new stuff and just post a message to bump the thread so you guys know when I update I will also explain all the changes I made.=-

-=Global Changes=-
Building placement-all buildings except for super weapons and special buildings can now be placed 3 spaces away. Defensive structures are placed as follows: basic defences like pillbox/sentry gun can be placed 6 spaces away. AA structures can be placed 5 spaces away. And advanced defences are 4 spaces.

Fixing all unit and building sell/grind price

Reworking the armor and versus percent to make more sense.
-None will be for basic infantry, being vurnerable to bullets and energy weapons. Conventional weapons from tanks are not very effective.
-Flak is mostly for infantry to have some protection from all types of weapons.
-Plate is for special infantry who wear heavy armor, they will be either immune or take little damage from bullet type weapons, also be completely immune to dogs. They take more damage from anti armor weapons including tank shells.
-Light is for smaller faster vehicles or advanced vehicles like the prism tank, it provides little protection from all weapons. Also all air units except for the Kirov will have light armor.
-Medium is for most vehicles, it will now be the most common vehicle armor. It provides better protection for most weapons.
-Heavy is for special units like the Battle Fortress. Any vehicle with this armor takes little damage from most weapons, Anti Armor weapons are the way to go.
-Wood is for most smaller or high tech buildings like the barracks or Battle Lab, weakest building armor.
-Concrete is for larger buildings like the Conyard and War Factory, Also used for Super Weapons.
-Steel is for Defensive structures only
-Special 1 and 2 will remain the same

I will be going through every warhead to make these changes.

All units will also have hit points and speed adjusted for better balance.

All unit built warnings are removed, this will make units like the Kirov and Demo truck more useable.

More global changes to come.

To get your own subforum PM Banshee but make sure you have shown some constructive progress first and some high quality voxels/buildings. Don't show any cut and paste stuff as original/new mods are more highly valued than old YR change builds.. Also you need to answer questions such as 'what seperates this from the competition at the moment?'.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Well as far as progress, i've got nearly every unit in and working. The problem is, because I am using publically available assets, some of the units don't look like they should. Or in some cases I am using regular stuff as placeholders. As far as what will seperate me from the others is the amount of thought I put into everything, which you will notice once I start posting the actual changes/additions. Oh well, I will just try to keep things clean and organized here. Screenies will be posted mainly to focus on the unit in action, I know I can't wow you with public assets, I will do it with competant coding. Tonight I will spotlight the United Nations.

Trust me when I say that my 2 Yuri sides will be completely different, except for a couple standard units, the rosters are very unique.


Well I posted my first list of changes. After I posted it I realized that vanilla Allies is not the best way to get you guys excited.... but bear with me. When I post the first allied country stuff it will be very different. Hope you like what you see so far. And I believe I mentioned that I am just going to modify the first post each time I update.

I will be posting the first Allied country tomarrow before I go to work. I believe America and the British are currently tied. Hopefully a couple more votes will fix that.

Actually if you noticed I call it a MRLS, Multi Rocket Launcher System, I llike it better that way. And the reason the missiles are small is because the effect I was going for is a barrage (10 missiles) of weak inaccurate rockets. 1 MRLS isn't going to destroy anything, but in groups they are deadly. And thanks about the hero vehicle. I was going to have it like every other weather tank out there, but I didn't like the effect. Once Rockpatch let us color electric bolts I got this idea.

Well the British won the vote, so here they are.
A new vote will also be put up shortly.

EDIT-I will change the vote once I figure out how to get rid of the old one.

The British was a fun side to do, their specialty, which is simply advanced technology gave me a lot of freedom to try diffrernt things. They are the country you want to play if you want a more well rounded arsenal. The negative to all this power is cost, Their special units cost more, so you must use available funds carefully or you will have half an attack force and no money.

British Buildings

-Battle Bunker, similar to soviet bunker. Holds 5 troops.

-Stealth outpost, small cloak radius, can be placed far from base, great for choke points.

-Sniper, not changed much except he can now garrison structures.

-Guardian Power Armor, Guardian GI in special armor, stronger weapons

A couple of things.

First, that cool Prism Trooper image I had, once I talked to Turn A Gamer about the origional authors of a couple things from Retaliation he informed me that it was Lao Tze's work and cannot use it unless he says I can. So hopefully he will let me. Otherwise, I will have to find something else.

Secondly, anyone know how I can remove the poll to put a new one in. Either I screwed something up or am an idiot.

And thanks everyone for the compliments. I will be posting the next country in a day or so.

The Americans probably have the least combat unit changes of all the sides, but they will be enjoyable to play. When I said in the first post the they specialize in first strike and intelligence tactics most of you were plobably like wtf?? Playing them you will be able to hit any taget early and often. Superior gap tech allows you to hid anything you don't want your enemy to see. Now it's time for the USA to be in the spotlight.

American Buildings

-Blackout Generator, greatly enhanced Gap generator, buildlimit of 1. Never worry about if you can cover all of your base again, when overpowered this can put a gap over almost half of smaller maps.

Nothing would make me happier then to have someone make me graphics. Especially if that person was skilled at it, But I cannot, in good conscience, ask someone to do that much work. I know most mods are definitly not 1 person jobs. But with my lack of experience I figured no one would be willing to help me out like that. I see so many times on these forums when someone with a new mod asks for someone to fill every position and they get flamed. But by all means is someone would like to sign up to my mod team as graphic maker, please ask.

Check the first post for the new Prism Trooper, yes, it's just a recolored Desolater, but i'm proud of it because I did it myself.

Also for America, the Mobile Gap Generator, Apache Longbow, and NIMITZ Carrier have new images.

Also with the new feature of Rockpatch allowing true AA battles, the Harrier can target air units.

My next major update will be on Tuesday, I'll either do Korea or Germany..

Well I added a new global change, it's not a big change, but it will make things slightly more interesting. Basically all unit built warnings are removed, this will be espicially advantagous to the soviets as the Kirov and Demo truck are more devastating without knowing they are being built.... good thing the Soviets can't use Gap technology..... Or can they?

Secondly, I think I may have thought up a pretty good name for my mod.
It's now called "Yuri's Revenge: Forbidden Technology". Any opinions on this would be appreciated.

Third, with an actual name I was bored and made a sig picture for the mod, it's not much as I suck at anything graphics related, but it's there.

I will probably do something better when I have the time.

And since the poll is still broke, who do you want to see more.
Germany or Korea. I will post the next country tomarrow.

The Germans do not know the word subtlety, rather than rely on flashy, high tech weapons, they prefer a more conventional approach. For them, the higher caliber cannon they can use, the better. They have a distinct disadvantage against simple infantry units as these high powered weapons lack the precise targeting to hit them. Nevertheless, their special units and structures are a force to be reckoned with.

German Buildings

-Defensive Gun Turret, a weapon from the old war, this turret is great against armor, but must be backed up by pillboxes as they do little damage to infantry.

-Vanguard Super Cannon, Acquirig the Grand Cannon from the French, they modified it to it's new form. Basically a Hero Structure, with incredible range and power, it can destroy almost anything in just a couple hits. The bad, it's long reload time, and slow projectile flight meaning faster units will easily escape the blast.

-ICBM, Wanting something a little less flashy than the Weather Storm, they use a simple, highly damaging missile as their main superweapon. Similar to the Soviets Nuke, without the messy radiation.

German Infantry

-Bazooka trooper, replacing the GI as the standard infantry for the Germans is the Bazooka Squad, armed with an easy to use bazooka they are more effective against tanks and structures than the GI, but like most German units, they have a hard time with other infantry.

German Vehicles

-Kodiak Battle Tank, big brother to the Grizzly, 2 barrels mean 2 times the fun, a match for a Rhino 1 on 1.

-Tank Destroyer, unchanged except for being slightly tougher.

-Siege Tank, German advanced siege unit, Using a cannon similar to the original grand cannon, this advanced Howitzer can decimate almost anything from great distances. Protect it well, as it has very light armor, slow speed, and cannot target units that are too close.

-Battlefield Command Mech, When the commander wants to personally take to the field, he goes in style. This Hero combat mech boasts extremely high armor, good speed for it's size and frightning weaponry. Using twin rapid fire cannons agianst infantry and armor, it can tear through many enemies quickly. For assault purposes against bases it has a twin rocket launcher with a very special design. The rockets penetrate the walls of the structure and explodes from within causing heavy damage to it's target.

-BattleShip, a terror of the seas, this heavy cruiser has a monstrous deck gun that fires vollies of cannonfire deep inland. With no real targeting system whatsoever it rarely hits what it aims at, but when it hits anything, you will know. It has no defense against naval threats, and being the slowest thing in the water it cannot escape trouble, so protect it well.

Well the French don't have the Grand Cannon anymore, so they don't get the mini one either. They mainly use Chrono Technology.

And I found one of his better naval voxels, a little recolor and an added turret, and now it's fit for the Allies.

Only 2 Allied countries left, and because no one seems to like the French(I think they had 1 vote on the poll), I Will be posting Korea in a couple days.

And thanks again to everyone who is showing interest in my mod.

Korea will be posted tonight once I get off work and fix a couple things. In the meantime here is a teaser pic of korea's special planes, well most of them.



Also in the first post I said there would be no story... well I lied. Once I flesh it out I will post that as well. I feel a storyline is neccessary to explain a lot of the changes, espicially in the Soviets, and more important to Yuri.

The Koreans use superior air power to win battles, so much so that they prefer them over ground units. The Koreans gave me the most trouble in balancing. When playing against them, AA defences is a must. If you slack, your units and buildings will begin to get blown away by swarms of air units.

Korean Buildings



-Missile swarm Tower, Advanced AA defence, build limit 1. Huge range, rapid fire aa defence. 1 is enough to cover almost any base

-Elite Rocketeer, Lazer using flying infantry, much more destructive than the regular Rocketeer.

-MiniOrca lift truck, Heavy vehicle that releases a small version of the ORCA fighter, uses energy balls against all targets. Hero Unit

Mabye... What does everyone else think. Should the Mini Grand Cannon stay the way it is now. Or should I scrap the whole deploy idea and mabye keep it just as a siege tank.

I've been thinking of a way to balance this ever since I started doing Korea. I've been trying to decide if either I should strenghten all AA, or make Koreas plane more fragile. If I strengthen AA, I will have to give all other air units a boost or no one will use any air units. On the other hand, if I weaken Korea's planes, then what would be the point in playing Korea. I would appreciate some opinions on this. My whole vision of Korea is for them to use their air units more than regular ground units, like say the Air Force General in C&C Generals. Or should I just rework Korea because a mainly air based side would be too powerful?

Also does anyone know where I can find a good AA gun image from, i'm not happy at all with the current spliced one I am using. Also no matter what I do I can't seem to get the Tiberian Sun ORCA pad quite right. So if you guys know where there is a single plane airpad, or a well converted Tiberian Sun one, point me in the right direction. I'm still gonna work on it, but if there was something I missed while looking for graphics that fits what I am looking for that would make things much easier.

Just give Korea very weak tanks, infantry paradrops and other air related things, give them rockateers etc. But make their main planes very fragile to AA. The heavy bombers and such should be like normal ones. Those are just my 2 cents on this.

Weakening the tanks is a good idea and I will probably do that. I would do paradrops but since America already has a paradrop special and giving Korea one would make the USA's less unique to them. But what about a bomb paradrop, do you think that would fit. I will definitly make their main planes weak vs aa, but the Black Eagle and the 2 ORCA units will be normal. What do you think about those changes.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

I found a new image for the German Siege tank, as well as finally doing a slight reworking of Korea. Hopefully it's a little better now. I am currently working out the bugs from the French units, update shall be within a week.

BTW, this mod is for RP, right?

If you do wonder, I can do this:

coding (prefer units, tanks, warheads and weapons)
Voxeling (not ships, yet)
Cameos (I can make VV cameos look almoast like 3ds cameos!)
New ideas?

BTW, I have a 35% done mod if you want me to add all of my prew. work to your mod!
