I am looking for information on what tools I should produce for C&C3 modding to go alongside what is included in the SDK.
Please post suggestions (go into as much detail as you can).

Stuff I will NOT do (mostly because I do not have the skills):
Anything that has to do with importing 3D models from the game into 3DS MAX or any other 3D program (either compiled models from the game or uncompiled w3x files)
Anything that has to do with exporting from any 3D program into a format that the game can use
UI editor (its already on my list but there are lots of unknowns about the UI format that have to be solved first)

Other than that, post suggestions and I will do my best to see about writing those tools.

An audio extractor would be nice Smile It would make things a lot easier!

Not doing an audio extractor either since the codecs are unknown.

Heh... Damit #Tongue, I know Keon is working on a C&C3 version of TibEd, how about a advanced tool for modders?

i think we should have a program for editing C&C3, (not something like sunedit2k before someone says it..) something that will make editing C&C3 a little easier, unless this is impossible. Sad

A tool for modding the command and conquer one the 360
That will uncompress the file edit it and recompress it all in 1

I will NOT be touching C&C3 on the 360 at all with anything I do. Getting sued by Microsoft (who seem to go after anyone doing any kind of unauthorized hacks/edits to XBOX 360 games or XBOX 360 downloadable content) is not something I wish to have happen.

Hmmm, after some thinking.. Can you make a tool wich checks if youre .Xml files aren't bugged. Because usualy iam to lazy to search for my error.. so it could be handy to have somekind of XML checker?? but it might be an hell of a job to extract all of EA's Custom XML command's...

All the XML Schema files are included. So in theory you can run any good XML Schema checker to look for errors.

Yeah, the codecs are EALayer3 and EA XAS ADPCM. However there is no known public documentation or publicly available code for either of these 2 algorithms.

I agree with this.
Like your texture export tool, but for .w3x.

I have a w3x decompiler already that converts binary w3x data from the game into a w3x file. However it is unable to do ShadeIndices data, BoneInfluences data or Animation data at this point.
