Happy 7th Anniversary, PPM!
Subject description: 7th Anniversary with a lot of lame and weird surprises!
Today, september 30th, is PPM 7th Anniversary. Despite my hectic life recently, I tried to make a big set of surprises to celebrate the date. I managed to implement part of it, but the site disk space has reached the quota during the upload of the movies, which ruined the final package of surprises that will be released in a later time.
Most of PPM anniversaries, I update all sections of the site. In this year, I also did that and added some new sections. The plan of making 'the end of PPM as you know' plan had to be left over to the next anniversary.
Anyway, to celebrate this great date, I've got a series of surprises up, thanks to the community help. So, here's the list:
(1) Spotlighted SHPs:
We now have a special place where the best SHPs that you submit at the SHP forum will go. The Spotlighted SHPs is a nice place to find the best resources for your mod. And it already started well with the awesome buildings from the Small Buildings Contest 2007 and much more.
(2) Red Alert 2 Beta Archives
Thanks to Brian Prime, we've got a total new section with every beta material from RA2 ever released. The Red Alert 2 Archives has more than 60 RA2 beta screenshots featuring a lot of units that, honestly, look even better than the release version. Wanna see more? Check the Red Alert 2 Beta Archives!
(3) CnC 3 Community Summit Secret Movies
I'm disclosing the movies that I've exchanged with Webboy back in the community summit. I gave him some pictures of unit lists taken at the EALA studio . For curious people, this list includes some variations of released units, but they are just lists, from the art team at the 4th floor, taken right after Chris Corry presentation. They forgot to tell us to drop the cameras . But I haven't posted these ones. The movies that I've released in this section includes a small part of the presentation from Richard Taylor and the awesome cinematics that made we leave excited from EA at the first day. Also, there is a litle of Dragon's presentation. And also, some community leaders entering at EALA (and a big TFD poster over there.... where is the 1.03 patch?). The Richard Taylor movie wasn't supposed to be recorded, but it doesn't really spoil any industrial secret... it's just interesting for nostaligic people. If you are interesting on knowning the community leaders and checking how were some of the presentations from the first public C&C3 community summit, check The Secret Movies.
(4) PPM SVN is now public!
You can access the PPM SVN to get the very latest versions of Voxel Section Editor III, OS BIG Editor and OS SHP Builder, as well as check the whole source code.
We've also updated the PPM FAQ to explain how SVN works and how to get the 'night builds' of these programs.
We'll soon provide SVN for our hosted mods as well once Revora releases this service.
(5) Updated CnC Editing Tools section and TFD Links
As usual, I've updated all the links in the site and added some interesting ones, including where to get high resolution patches for C&C95, LAN fix and VK's patch for the map borders.
(6) PPM is better for wide screen users!
Muldrake has fixed some issues with the background for wide screen users and also made the news look better.
Happy birthday PPM and I hope everyone enjoys it. I couldn't make the bomb, because as I said, my life is hectic and next week will be extremely rushed... probably the second most rushed week of my life, only behind the week before I traveled to EALA.
I admit this is a bit belated, but congratulations to PPM!
More to the point, I wish to congratulate Banshee especially for doing what others had tried and failed to do. In some cases others failed quite catastrophically. You have managed to create a great and succesfull community here which (from what I have seen) have a cohesive bond. I commend all those who stayed with PPM over the last 7 years and who continue to work on the Final Dawn mod.
Will we ever see the final result of Final Dawn? Who knows! All I know is that when it is released I will be installing TS just to play it.
I feel no shame in saying that the better person has succeeded, and I can think of no better person to be leading PPM. Congratulations yet again Banshee, and all of PPM! QUICK_EDIT
