Just figured you guys would be interested in knowing that SunAge has gone gold and we copies of the game are being distributed to retailers in the UK, Scandinavia, Benelux and Italy. People in other countries unfortunately will have to wait until Q1 2008... unless... you have the game shipped overseas or... buy SunAge online!

Source - http://www.lighthouse-interactive.com/index.php?nid=259&main=archive&type=

------------------------------------------------------------------

Leading publisher Lighthouse Interactive and developer Vertex4 today announced that their dynamic sci-fi real-time strategy game SunAge has gone gold and is now shipping to major retail stores in parts of Europe. The street date is 30 November 2007. SunAge is an energetic RTS game that offers a unique experience, bringing modern innovation to the isometric style of real-time strategy. This PC CD-ROM game is Windows® Vista™ compatible.

Gamers across the UK, Scandinavia, Benelux and Italy can start looking for the game on store shelves at the end of this month. SunAge will also be available at various direct download websites*. Other European territories, including: Germany and France, will begin shipping SunAge to retailers in Q1 2008. In North America, SunAge will begin shipping to retail stores at the end of January 2008.

Erik Schreuder, CEO of Lighthouse Interactive said, “SunAge was one of the first games Lighthouse signed when it first opened its doors for business in 2005. Since then, the game has evolved from an indie developed game into a mature and refreshing new take on the RTS genre. It introduces some great new features and we’re convinced this will appeal to many strategy fans. We’re really excited to announce that SunAge has gone gold and it’s thrilling to see that it lives up to its promise.”

“After a lot of dedication and hard work, I am extremely proud to see that we have achieved our goal as a team. SunAge is now available for fellow strategy fans to enjoy,” said Roman Pfneudl, CEO of Vertex4. “The game has become so much more than I anticipated. The RTS community has supported us during the development process and made this experience even greater. We think SunAge has a lot to offer gamers who love to play real-time strategy games as much as we do. We hope you will enjoy it and we promise to keep on supporting the game!”

SunAge is the modern day answer for RTS fans who want the best possible overview on their troops, while trying to outsmart opponents in frantic battles where strategy and tactics are more important than ever. If you are a core real-time strategy gamer, SunAge is for you!

Nope, no Steam.

@DeathRay2K - Seems the Canadian release will be the same as the US release. I'd recommend to just look around the big stores. Or there is always online distribution. I'll get back to you when I get more information.

Seems like you can have it mailed to Canada from here:
http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4184419

@Banshee - Don't know about Brazil, that's a good question though. I'll have to find this out.

Anyway, I wonder how this will go. Hovewhere I will not buy the game - I don't really like the atmosphere... maybe some later time.

Maybe people will buy it because the like the looks of the game, or the features, or the story. Maybe they saw the trailer, or the demo.

Or maybe, it's because they saw it in one of the many major retail outlets which are stocking it and have been around for much longer than Steam.

Or perhaps they'll buy it from Stardock, GamersGate or Direct2Drive.

SunAge is already going to be in plenty of shops. Wink However, I'd love for SunAge to be on Steam, more outlets the better! But it's not my call. Only issue is that Steam has a bit too much DRM for our liking, we don't want our consumers to be treated like they are suspected of piracy every time they go to play the game. Why should a user have to PROVE they purchased the game, just to play? (on that note, Steam games are no more secure than Securom or SafeDisc games.)

Currently, I know only the locations stated on the press release. Unfortunately, we're not able to do an entirely global release, which is one of the reasons why I'm glad we have online distribution. You can always have the game shipped overseas!

@gufu - What atmosphere don't you like? I'd love to hear more detailed feedback. Smile

Honestly, I haven't heard of an issue with Steam's DRM scheme for years.
It's the most convenient method of purchase for many people around the world. Direct2Drive is abysmal for patches, and I don't know of any other system that is as flexible as Steam.

Well, if I see this game I might pick it up. Now if it were on Steam, I'd definitely get it, simply for the convenience of it. Wink

Not sure about EBGames, but it is said that we'll be in all major retailers.

Best to e-mail Lighthouse Interactive. Smile

Gotz it today....
Sexiness... it's like a vault of nostalgia!

I was surprised to find that you managed to integrate many new RTS 'techniques' while keeping the old school feel.

Two small quirks though: There is a long pause between the v4 logo and the main menu.
An more elaborate in-game tutorial would have been good... the game has many complex commands and first mission throws you into the heat of the action without giving much time to get adjusted to the controls.
The game is awesome despite this.

That's when it loads. I'm afraid we can't avoid this. #Puppy dog

The skirmish AI is EASY! Very Happy

Atleast, I find it quite easy. Smile It can really get pretty brutal if you give it a chance. Wink

I've been writing a pretty easy AI and perhaps I'll see if we can release it sometime.

That's a "Spike".

It's the Sentinel's "Power-node" that transmits power across the map. You can construct buildings next to it and they'll be powered by it.

The power-network idea is a fantastic one. I personally really enjoy building and defending my network while obliterating the enemies.

It doesn't become the whole battle though, it's just another target for you to base your tactical decisions on. (like perhaps the Protoss Pylon from Starcraft.)

Hit-and-run tactics on key nodes is a fantastic way to damage the enemy economy and production.

Only if you can find it in the bargin bin, and even then, only if it's so cheap it might as well be free. I bought it full price right after it was released. Haven't played it since the 1st day.
