Map protection?

hi i am new here and i am wondering how you protect your maps from being edited i am pretty sure it is possible since i have some maps that when you try to open them an error thing pops up.

Telling you how to protect them also tells you how to un-protect them. There is a gentleman's agreement in the community that publicly telling people how its done is not the done thing. However if you carefully compare the protected maps you have to ones that aren't in a text editor, you might be able to figure out how its done.
