good luck dude, In Sri lanka there is no conscription, but if your not too good at school, the army is the most likely place you go. Luckily my parents moved to South Africa with me, so I can act retarded all I want and not worry about slipping up at school and going to the army.
Mind you I have no Idea how I got into Uni.
hope the army will be a great experience for you. QUICK_EDIT

The Swiss army's the best one to be a part of. You can ask my Grandpa(not related genetically) about his military days during WWII. He never has any war stories to tell... _________________

Talking about overrated armies...
FINLAND!
Yeah, I mean, even Javier can beat the russians when Stalin executes I don't know how many officers for "treason"... QUICK_EDIT
And some stuff in English: Lieutenant said that my shooting was best of the day. It's pretty fun sometimes, but sometimes we have to take stuff serious, so no laugh is accepted. If I'm able to get rid of my problems with my legs (hurts most of the time) I might get non-com officer training. All the officers are so damn relaxed, so I might enjoy my time in the army very much. Meh, if I went in the army I'd either be something stationary/vehicle mounted or court-martialled for dereliction of duty in the face of walking. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

Just keep that attitude and it'll be a piece of cake (I hope) Hmm...nearly two more years and its my turn. _________________
Damn this recession. So many people are fired, and most of them want to go to the army. My brother (19) has to wait two more years to get there. QUICK_EDIT

How long does basic last in Finland? 6 weeks? Over here in the US I heard you don't get issued your rifle until like the 3rd week. Firing range not until like 4th week. QUICK_EDIT

Team SomeGuy:
Basic in the US is 10 weeks, and you get your rifle in the first week of training, and trust me, you guard that thing like your life. if one of the Drill Sergeants finds it unattended, you are effed up the ass. HARD. Firing ranges are usually week four or five, depending on scheduling. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT

Basic as basic military duty? We had 2 years before it get cancelled. It's hard to imagine to be after university there for 2 years (or 2 years work in hospital or so, pfff)... great they cancelled this. _________________

i was talking about Basic Training. most contracts are 2, 4, or 8 year contracts. once you sign those contracts there are very few things you can do to get out, and you have to pretty much get the medal of honor or nearly die to get out honorably. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT

I'm living in Canada. I was born in Germany. (And lived there for about 4 years of my life) Even if I wanted, they'd never give me citizenship. QUICK_EDIT

A relative of mine managed to get out by submitting a letter, an EXTREMELY detailed letter to the officer or whatever. It was a very wordy letter, detailing the reasons why my relative should be honorably discharged.
And it worked. My relative managed to take home a smoke grenade, lol. But thanks to my relative's like 1 & half or 2 (can't remember) years in the army, he got like a school pass into college. So, something was gained. _________________ Destroy to create. All for the hunt to dominate!

There are ways.
if you kiss enough ass and suck enough penis, you might be able to get out honorably, but for us normal people who uphold our end of the contract, getting out isn't really an option. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT

Hey, the relative was a decent soldier... when in plain sight of the superior officers.
Its a ztyping old looking grenade too, barebones paint job; then again, its not like its supposed to exsist for long. I wish it was a frag... or at least poisonous, but hey, its something. _________________ Destroy to create. All for the hunt to dominate!
Hello people of PPM! As you know my army service is almost over. Still 11 days from 362 left. Still have to spend 5 there (those are the last.) After that we are going to party whole weekend at a rented luxus cabin. QUICK_EDIT

speaking of release from service, I'm also getting out this August (honorably, that is) to go to school. I'll be getting my Psychology major, and I need to go full time. I'll enroll in the Army ROTC program at the university, so when I graduate, I'll commission too! two birds with one stone. my Ph.D in Psychology and Sociology, and commissioned officer pay _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT
