Subject description: cannot get shell map to show

I need some help, I cannot get the shell map to appear when I start my game. I only get a shell texture, or screenshot of the shell map.

I thought it might have been a first decade thing, but the same thing happens when I installed from just the generals disk.

It might just be a windows 7 thing, becuase it shows up on my old XP.

I went through the gamedat.ini and it shows the path to the shell map, and nowhere does it point to the texture/screenshot, though I did find it in the Texture.big file.

anyone know what might be going on?

run in compatibility mode, Generals doesn't know Win7 and has problems with that so it uses low settings like the shellmap for default.
