XNA (supposedly) is an easy-to-use tool that allows people to create Indi games for the Xbox 360. Some are actually worth buying and playing, believe it or not. However, there isn't much in the RTS genre of Indi games.

I honestly don't see myself doing this (I'm a lazy bastard), but what would you think if someone attempted to recreate Tiberian Dawn on the Xbox? Or TS (because it's freeware now, so I don't see any legal issues as long as it isn't a complete and blatant copy).

Just something I've been thinking about for a while now.

Well you still need to learn or know C#, which I tried doing over a year ago in an effort to produce something for Xbox live but gave up. But yes, a new old school console RTS along the same lines as TD or RA1 (I first played RA1 on the PS1 and still think it's best on there) would be amazing.

I had fun playing TD on the original Playstation. And since I have a shittastic laptop I can't play any of the newer CnCs unless I buy them for the Xbox, and honestly, it's not that bad.

Plus, if I'm right, the author of an Indi game receives a small portion of the profits.

EDIT: Commander, bam.

XNA is really easy to use, but I don't understand why is XNA 4 limited just to XBox? Older XNA versions could also be used for pc, as far as I could use.

There's a version that works for the phone too.

Yeah I was wondering about OpenRA but I'm not sure what language it was developed on (although I'm sure it could be transferred anyway by people who know how). Of course in order to actually sell it over XBLA you'd need to create your own graphics at the very least. I would love to create a Dune 2000 inspired console RTS (in terms of gameplay) though...

XNA (also 4) works as well with pc as with xbox. It's just a toggle in Visual Studio and you compile for the other. It wouldn't be much work to port OpenRA to XNA. In fact I wonder why they didn't in the first place. Only because they want to use OpenGL instead of DX they made themself a huge amount of extra work at start.
Also C# is one of the most easy to use languages you can have.

So in theory, you could import it to the Xbox.

I'm not entirely sure how much data you're allotted (IE, for uploading) but an older CnC? Shouldn't be a problem. And it's CnC for Christ's sake, maybe people aren't as interested in it as they used to be but it's still a good game and more than worth a download on the Marketplace.

Question is, who would be up to it?

Well as I said you couldn't simply upload TD or RA1 onto Xbox live arcade. Despite being freeware it's still copyrighted material, so you couldn't sell it and likely MS wouldn't allow it on at all unless EA came forward and authorised it. You could use the OpenRA engine of course which would be epic... I might start messing with this tonight, though I have no programming knowledge or skills so it would purely be for fun.
