Get your text adventure on

I recently got in the mood to play some text adventures, though I decided that making them was just as fun (if not more so) than playing them.

Therefore I propose a text adventure with myself as the DM.

Feel free to post questions regarding the scenario or functions. I will use the first response to each "What now?" That has correct(ish) syntax. It's important that when inputting a command you begin it with ">" or something like that, so I can be sure you're not asking a question or commenting.

Verbs:
TAKE...
USE... ON...
MAKE...
LOOK AT...
DROP...
GO.../GO TO...
TALK TO...
TURN ON...
RAISE...
LOWER...

You are Horacio Ignatius, master architect and avid golfer. You recently beat Ernie Els' course record using only a T-square, and returned to your hotel room last night. You now awake in a basement. There is a FIRE burning on the left side of the room, and several SAFES are positioned about.

Your inventory contains:
Your T-SQUARE
Your WATCH
Your GOLF TROPHY
Your CLOTHES

There is a ladder in the corner of the room. You can go UP.

What now?

While in context, it's a good idea, you're in a forum of action gamers. Text based games probably won't get very far here, as most of us don't have much patience..

If he feels so inclined to make another "Choose Your Own Adventure" thread, he might as well try to make some visual aid of sorts.
