League of Legends General

Another 'General' thread from me, this time about the DOTA style game League of Legends. I just sat down to play it about 6 hours ago and it consumed my soul. I don't like playing general public matches (always one player quits or never does anything) so I was looking to see if any other /ppm/ers out there play. I could use a cool team, I'm willing to play on any server. Smile

I'm obviously new to this gaming front too, so I was also hoping that there would be others who play so that I could have them give me useful pointers.

Big boys play DotA2.

I did play LoL before it went beyond my computer's capabilities, somehow. Sadly, I heard they nerfed Soraka, and good times were had with high AP Starfall spam, backed with high-damage silence attack. With heals saving teammates from sudden deaths here and there.

Oh, and wining 3 VS 5 as a Gangplank. Good times.

I've grinded myself to level 30 and play it every once in a while, but I'm interested in playing only with IRL friends.

I liked the game a lot when I started, but I feel that it takes too much grinding if you want to get to ranked matches (requires 16 champions and if you want to advance to higher ELOs, good runes for those champions are pretty essential too).

Meh, Dota is the original and Dota can't be beaten.

LoL actually even have 1:1 Dota copycats. So lol. Cool

That's because MOBA genre is traditional as all hell, and every games has a certain set of characters with certain abilities.

...Have you even played LoL for more than 5 matches? Just because Dota made a genre doesn't mean it can't be beaten. After all it's a new genre and it's possibilities and pretty much everything that can be done with it, is still out there to be explored.

Oh wait... I mixed LoL with HoN. Actually, what makes me headscratching that their UI is a mess compared to War3's. I don't understand it myself neither, but it appears, WC3 controls more fitting to this style than what they design from scratch.

Yeah, HoN is a complete copy, I couldn't stick to it due it's unbearably long match queuing times, and when I got into the game, it was a complete utter mess.

Basically DotA in a game form in a hardcore presentation. Which is pretty much the reason why it's dying.

TBH, I got tired of all the DOTA type games real fast, including LoL (though it was the one I stuck with the longest). Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game, but what drove me off was the community. ALL DOTA type games have some of the worst communities.

I played LoL, my main was Ziggs. Was level 23 and still really like the game, but was tired of hearing "Welcome to summoners rift!". I was hopeing for more maps other than the same one over and over. And if i recall all DOTA and HoN have the same type map. Its getting worn out!
