No terrain objects appear on stock map edit
The map works, but nothing appears on it. No buildings, no infantry, no cars, no trees, no tiberium, no overlay, no objects of any kind appear in game. They're all there in FinalSun.
Any idea why this is? Is the file encrypted, even corrupted, in some way? The file was an extracted Grassy Knoll file originally.

Hi guys,
I extracted one of the stock maps (Grassy Knoll) from it's mix, edited it and changed the extension to .mpr in order to play it. The game IEs once it reaches "secondary check of combat zone", but FinalSun has no problems with the map. Have I done something stupid?
Thanks. Last edited by Disgrace on Wed Feb 05, 2014 5:37 am; edited 2 times in total QUICK_EDIT
Problem is with the edit/changes to the map file, not with the renaming to .mpr.
G_KNOLL is already defined in missions.pkt, so you need not rename it to .mpr to test any change.
Just place the edited G_KNOLL.map in TS installation folder or inside any expandXX.mix to test.
If you have added any FS features, then test with Firestorm expansion. QUICK_EDIT
Thanks for the guidance, I solved the IE problem by deleting all of the terrain objects using a word editor.
But I have a bigger problem - the map works, but nothing appears on it. No buildings, no infantry, no cars, no trees, no tiberium, no overlay, no objects of any kind appear in game. They're all there in FinalSun. This includes objects I haven't even touched from the original version.

Maps are not encrypted, they are just text files. Only some of the sections are encoded (still in ASCII).
Never use word editers for maps (they change the format, so map gets corrupted). Use text editors like
Notepad++, AkelPad or commercial ones like Editplus, UltraEdit etc.
Keep only one G_KNOLL.map file in TS folder to be sure that TS and FinalSun are using the same file.
Remove/move G_KNOLL.mpr, if you still have it in TS folder. If you have removed buildings, trees etc.
it should not be visible in Finalsun also. In FinalSun.ini, TS path is in Exe= .
Extract the map file again with XCC Mixer and use a file diff tool to compare the changes. QUICK_EDIT
you could also upload the map here to have some of the mapping pros have a look at it. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
Thanks for the help; the problem was a bit of leftover text from the stock map that shouldn't have been there. I've uploaded the completed map now. QUICK_EDIT
