Update #14

You may have noticed that the Rewire team members have talked about OpenRA lately and not really even mentioning the Yuri’s Revenge version of the mod.
Despite the fact we are porting Rewire to OpenRA, Rewire for Yuri’s Revenge has NOT been canceled. :]
Almost all work done for the OpenRA version of the mod are compatible with Yuri’s Revenge so both mods will use the same assets with the exception of the transparent and alpha based lighting effects, which due to lags caused by alpha images, can’t be added to the YR version of the mod. :’(
As of yesterday we have worked on various assets, Gangster worked on making the active animations and I worked on a few buildups, together we also worked on various special effects.





At the same time we have been playing around with the OpenRA version of the mod, checking out the features, as well as the undoubtedly beautiful voxel rendering



Earlier today I brought upon a discussion on the Mental Omega IRC channel about the cameos.
Apparently there are people that prefer a TS like background, some that prefer the new digital BG I made, and some that prefer a actual background, so would be nice to hear what you prefer and maybe get on a common ground on this subject.


Think that about wraps it up for now.

Don't like the TS background one. But all the other cameos are nice. For OpenRA, to be honest, I'd use the middle row of cameos. For YR, maybe the top left or two bottom ones.

Not bad. But voxels are out of my taste.. Still, probably the best stuff I have seen here.

How about making a TS scenery in those cameos backgrounds? Like in the TS beta, RA1 or C&C? You have nice models, you could do it, now.

P.S. All this TS remake stuff going around, makes me want to remake my own TS buildings. Smile

I just wanna point out I *hate* cameo text. I also find the original cameos boring-but-practical, but the old icon there doesn't look right on the missile silo.

So, out of the options, I vote for  the middle row.

It might look cool, but since our brain is adapted to focus on motion in the visual field, a sidebar full of animated cameos might be too distracting.

but you know it's depend on design how you make it work.

- you can make sidebar hide all the time and call it up only when you want to use.

- you make consider just to animate cameo only when hover your mouse over the icon.

- or choose only animate icon that are in production.

not sure but consider it's Open source engine there should have some way to make it work. but sidebar hiding function seem work perfectly on OpenRa. truly i also try to understand how this engine work since i'm prepare to do something for it even i didn't plan to code it by my self. :p
