I cant for the life of me get any mods I make to work on Kane's Wrath for Steam. I have WrathEd that has been helpful in identifying the unit and building XMLs for tweaking.

Basically what I want to do is make refineries and silos function like tiberium spikes. Since I cannot get any of my mods to work I was wondering if I can make xml files that would replace the one in the base game.

For instance I see that the source for the GDI refinery using WrathEd is
DATA:gdi/structures/gdirefinery.xml

Could I make a new gdirefinery.xml file with my tweaks in it and insert it in a path such as:

D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Command and Conquer 3 - Kane's Wrath\data\gdi\structures\gdirefinery.xml

Thus fooling the game and make my changes? if so what would the path be?

No use, game won't read any XML files as is regardless where ever you'd put them.

WrathED is the only way to make changes to KW.

I have WrathED 1.07, but when I open .big or skudef files I cant type anything or save any changes in that program. Is there a manual or tutorial on how to use that thing to change properties in KW?

Read the documentation and take a look at the Sample Mod that comes with WrathEd to understand the basic structure and how to compile a mod.

Yeah I tried to make a new mod with WrathEd for the Steam version of KW. I cannot get them to function after digging through numerous tutorials already. What I want to do is just edit the base game files for KW in steam, not make a new mod.
