This interesting scenario happened while playing the map Social Divide.
(I don't believe this is a map specific issue.)

I was playing as GDI and managed to get my 3 airstrips with their A-10's.

I was bombing the northeastern base with them until... they all vanished except 1.

I figured they got blown out of the sky but when I tried to replace them through the build sidebar the icon was greyed out.

I also noticed nothing else could land on their old airstrips as if they were
currently occupied.

When I tried to move the control group around to figure out were it was they
could have gone only the one that remained move around.

I tried selling the "occupied" airstrips but after rebuilding them the issue
was still there.

Could it be possible they managed to land or just get stuck outside the map boundaries?

If anyone has any idea were my missing pilots are that would be great.

yes, aircraft can get stuck outside the map, when they touch the red border of the map.
In FinalSun (the map editor), the blue border marks the visible map and the red border the real end of the map.

Usually aircraft get stuck, when the stripe between blue and red border isn't big enough, so when they turn in a wide arc, it can happen that they touch the red outer most border.
Though on Social Divide this stripe seems big enough for any aircraft to turn.

However, when you have aircraft still assigned in a team, you should be able to get them back in, by giving them multiple move commands.
You should also see the green movement lines coming from outside the map, showing you exactly where they got stuck.

When I tried to retrieve them through the control group commands nothing happens, and no green lines either (I have those disabled).

I'm not to worried about it but I figured I would report it.

I've never seen this happen, but multiple times I've noticed something that could be a variation of this bug (based on the description): I build an A10, and it never appears on the map. It's not selectable even if I query all units via the keyboard, and it remains somewhere taking its part of the build limit for the rest of the match. Very annoying.

It's not something that we could fix. I've also had the same happen on TI, so it's not a DTA-specific bug.

ROT=5 or above on the aircraft solves it. I think ROT=4 also works if map has proper red/blue border as LKO mentioned.

That's good to know, although I think it makes the aircraft make far too sharp turns, which is bad both visually and gameplay-wise.

So if I weigh the pros against the cons, I don't think this issue is common enough to make lowering the ROT worth it.

Just checked with ROT=2 also. Larger gap between the blue and red border in maps seem to solve it.

Offtopic: Nod AI builds upto 19 power plants. On constrained base locations, it doesn't build helipads. Orca swarm is
missed. (ver DTA 1.1408)
