Operation: 2 Minutes to Midnight
Subject description: Multiplayer Infiltration/Spy-Hunting Map
After watching way too many Gmod videos, I thought "Hey, I bet I could make the Red Alert 2 equivalent of 'Prop Hunt' if I fiddle around enough with some map mechanics!" After many changes to the original ini and lots of patrol teams (or at least there will be when get back onto my lazy butt and finish this thing), I think I've come up with something workable.

The setting is in Moscow. Since RA2 can't work out unit assignment based on starting positions I had to rely on the original houses, namely Russia, Iraq and America. The idea is that the American spy has to blend in with all the infantry patrols while avoiding being crushed by tank patrols to make it to the Kremlin. The soviets' job is to kill the spy before it gets to the Kremlin without killing more that three (this may change during balance testing) civilians.
I totally didn't spend two hours on this
The setup of the patrol teams requires the spy to change disguise at least twice (the approximate section in which each infantry type will patrol is shown above). To balance out the extreme difficulty of being the lone spy, several mirage tanks "converted" to transports are scattered throughout the map for the spy to hide in.
I wanted to get some feedback on the idea before I got in too deep (ba-bum-tish) on scripting all the patrol routes. Constructive criticism, suggestions and any comments for that matter are welcome and appreciated.
EDIT: All the infantry patrols have been implemented, so this is actually a playable map now. I probably could have set it up to be a little bit more randomized if I had added team switching actions into the scripts, but this'll work for the moment.
I'm pretty sure there are ways to emulate Prop Hunt much more closely, e.g. by creating units that look like terrain types (can tell them apart from trees as they won't catch fire [doesn't apply to vanilla RA2 and YR though]), or using mirage tanks without weapons, etc. Your approach is something quite different, but I'm not saying it's bad. _________________
Emulating prop hunt as closely as possible wasn't really my goal, it’s just where the idea came from (I suppose I should've made that a little more clear). If it were, I could have easily set up a global mission timer for the time limit, given the Allied player a mirage tank and made a map with more terrain objects. Maybe I'll make that my next map. _________________ Last edited by Chrono Vortex on Sun Aug 06, 2017 11:48 am; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
What exactly do you mean by “depth?” Is there a particular area you had in mind that I could expand in or do you mean just general adding of details n' stuff? _________________
