Kodiak RC Model (possible)
Just some crazy fantasizing or really doable?
I was just checking some youtube videos about RC plane jet engines and noticed that they are super powerful.
A small 2.6 kg Jet engine can produce about 300N of thrust. In other words it can lift 30 kg vertical in the air.
Imagine you have a big model of the Kodiak, the 6 VTOL engines
shown here as rocket engines (2 rear engines not visible here)
could be replaced with 6 of those RC jet turbines.
If the model weighs less than 180 kg, it would be able for VTOL just like the Kodiak in the FMV.
This seems to me like it would be actually possible to create a flying Kodiak model. What do you think?
Does anyone has experience in RC planes and can say if that's really possible?
Some small technical/math stuff
6* JetCat P300-RX turbine
2.6 kg with 300N thrust and 1l fuel per minute
13.8 kg for the 6 engines + 30l fuel for 5 minutes vertical flight under full thrust (surely not all the time necessary, especially when trying to keep overall weight low)
= 43.8 kg
batteries and electronics to control the engines, maybe some small servos to tilt the VTOL engines
i would guess about 10 kg
that's 53.8 kg, leaving about 120kg for the model itself and additional stuff like 2 more jet engines to propel the model forward. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
