Recording Software
Subject description: RA2-compatible Recoders
Long story short, I want to show-case a new game-mode for Supreme RA2 and so far have failed to find good recorders. No, I didn't bother with trying to remember their names.
They either show a big black screen instead of the game-window, or only manage to get the menu, but not the actual game.
What I do know tho, is that Fraps still works, but:
A) slows down the PC greatly (but maybe resolution has something to do with it),
B) Appears to record less than 30s per video and completely stops recording after one vid? (I used Fraps long ago for my XP. It didn't have that problem)
What recorders do you use? Bear in mind I won't be using the CnCNet client for my mod (CnCNet lacks campaign-mode, right?), and always go full-screen with XWIS. Thank you. _________________ One and only developer of the Command & Conquer Dune "C&C D" mod.

Everytime I want to start recording, it says game-window not found, or similar.
EDIT: NVM, just found the Hotkey controls. But MAAAN does it lag. Any other alternatives? _________________ One and only developer of the Command & Conquer Dune "C&C D" mod.

Everyone uses OBS. IIRC you need to play Windowed mode or use monitor capture instead of gamecapture.
The black screen is PEBKAC. _________________ "If you didn't get angry and mad and frustrated, that means you don't care about the end result, and are doing something wrong." - Greg Kroah-Hartman

If by monitor-capture you mean recording the whole desktop, then I already did that.
But, from your response, I have a feeling I did sth wrong... _________________ One and only developer of the Command & Conquer Dune "C&C D" mod.

ive recorded over 1,500 videos of tiberian sun red alert 2 and red alert original. i used to use bandicam desktop capture but playing in window mode with obs is better. you can get better image quality and performance with obs than you can bandicam. use obs.best thing about obs is you can use it for everything. webcam flogs. livesctreams. etc. has tons of effects and shit. artistic people have tons of features they can add to their shit. really small file sizes and excellent image quality and performance. QUICK_EDIT
Did anyone use OBS with fulll-screen-mode instead? I did, and the recording was a black screen from start to finish. _________________ One and only developer of the Command & Conquer Dune "C&C D" mod.

Display capture works with YR full screen for me, but if your YR resolution is lower than your monitor resolution, then it will also capture your desktop in the background filling up the extra space. You can fix that by cropping the capture though, then upscaling it so it just displays the YR portion of the display. QUICK_EDIT
