Index 4 Normal Maps
Due to the lack of in depth discussion, and absolute lack of a map of the 244 normal index 4 chart, information of RA2 normals is very scarce. I decided to set about making a map of index 4. I have only completed the top view, but plan to do a full, six-sided map. Thanks go to MigEater for the voxel file. I don't know his source for the file, but it saved me a lot of time, as I was going to build a normal sphere myself.
Anyway, without further ado, here is the map. I will include as much reference information as possible with each image so that facings and directions can be easily deduced. Questions or comments are very welcome.
View from top:
Index 232 is the very top face.
Index 135 faces forward.
Index 154 is the left side.
View from right:
Index 220/221 is the top.
Index 105 is front.
Index 17/50 is bottom.
Of important note are the reverse order of left to right. This seems to be a quirk of the way VXLSE displays facings(Top, bottom, left, right, etc.). There appears to be no way of displaying it in proper facing without flipping the image. I chose against flipping the image, because that is how VXLSE displays it, and these maps are a guide for the way normals are displayed in program. The aim here is to help users to visualize normals better, so that they can either hand normalize a model, or at the very least fix any auto normalization issues. QUICK_EDIT
