Simply put - is there a hard character limit for the [Briefing] section of the .map files? I've tried editing one in the past, and it cuts off after a bit. If this is the case, is there a simple workaround?

Starting years ago, I used to do simple edits and buffs/unit additions to TS/FS for personal amusement. I'd started to make a short campaign some time last year, but, as the only way I had to tell the story was through text, the Mission Briefings started to get pretty long. That's when I encountered the problem. Life got in the way, things happened, and I haven't been back to it since. I wanted to know if this was an actual limit, or perhaps something I was doing wrong, before I decided to, maybe, get back in to editing.

I don't know about TS unfortunately, but if it helps:

RA2 and YR have a limit of 20 lines (the 21st being half-way cut), each line only taking up ~64 characters.

The character-limit is also enforced for the mission texts that show up with, MapAction 11.
^This^ is dependent on the resolution, tho.

I appreciate the response, thank you. I hadn't ever messed with RA2/YR that much, so, I had no idea that it had a character limit as well. Is there some kind of workaround for RA2/YR? It probably wouldn't apply to TS, but I'm curious anyway.

AFAIK, not even Ares can fix it.
The limit might be to make briefings readable even on 640x600

So with a limit Westwood made sure players on lowest resolution won't get less than the whole story, IF the briefings had a proper story written, like MO, TI, DTA and C&C S have to because they don't have FMVs.
