FAQ: New mods and hosting...
Hello people, due to excessive demand, I'm posting this topic to explain how our hosting services work. We are getting an excessive ammount of hosting requests from mods that won't get out of the paper.
The purpouse of getting a forum and a site for a mod is to show people its existence, get a fan base and a fan support... and finally, people to play it . The problem is that there are a lot of people that started a mod in a day and want hosting in the next day. Let's get straight to the point here: we won't host this kind of mods until they get some true progress. We already provided hosting for mods like this and it ended on stagnant mods.
The most recent hosted mod (C&C Chaos War) was being worked on since last year. so, don't think that you will get hosting here with one day or one week of work, unless you had an incredible progress at that week.
But this doesnt mean that we aren't interested on hosting your mod one day, but you need to have something to show.
But... of course that mods need organization, staff, support... so how will you get that? We have solutions for that for a long time:
-> Mod Announcements Forum!
Now, here's an explanation of the steps you can get by making proper use of PPM forums.
1) Fan base:
You can post screenshots or progress of your mod at TS, RA2 or Generals Editing Forums. Screenshots with new images are usually more attractive. Users provide feedback to improve your work. Use them wisely. Or use mod announcements, specially when you have a cool news to show. Mod announcements may bring you news post depending on the quality of your work.
2) Fan Support:
Use Mod Announcements forum to ask for staff or make important announcements about your mod. Depending on the need and quality of your work, we can provide news post in the site to support you.
3) Organization:
We admit that without forums, your only effective way to make things organized is by having topics dedicated to a purpouse... like one topic for screenshots of your mod, or one topic to show units... Make sure the first post is constantly edited to show people the latest stuff posted and link them properly.
4) Staff:
You can either use MSN to comunicate with staff or make a temporary forum on an invisionfree or this kind of service while you don't have a forum.
Remember the following attractive things for a mod:
- good idea
- progress
- some staff
- popularity
And the most important: quality.
So, don't be equivocated to try to get hosting in the first days of project. Work on it for a while and ask us a forum when you have some of it done, enough to show and we will help you to get the attractive things above.
Sorry for any inconvenience, but we don't make miracles. QUICK_EDIT

Or you could make a private chatroom on AIM or IRC.
And you may want to make sure that at least one person is using an instant messenger client (program) like Trillian (with logging enabled), so you can automatically log your discussions for future reference. _________________ Check out my FAQ and Modding Info Page.
