I was browsing Strike Team recently and there is a very important news regarding the serial validation server that EA maintains to support XWIS, the current official online server for pre-Generals C&C games. Here's Don Carlo's words on this issue:

Some of you may be aware that there have been problems related to serial validation for some time now.
This has been because the EA validation server was not working correctly.
In order to reduce problems and allow people to continue playing on XWIS validation had been temporarily disabled until EA could give us a fix for the problem.

This issue is now about to be fixed and validation will be reactivated as it was meant to be.

This is going to solve the following.

   * Banned cheaters will no longer be able to exploit the system and get back on the server with invalid serials.
   * This should reduce the amount of cheat reports since many recent cheat reports have been the same cheaters repeatedly dodging there bans.
   * We will be able to process bans faster since automatic banning of associated serials will work properly.

Please note however :
Since the validation server has been down we are aware that many people have been exploiting this and using invalid serials on XWIS. If you are one of them you will find those serials suddenly disabled. And all nicknames created on those serials will be inactivated.

We cannot/will not make any allowances for anyone that has been using invalid serials for what ever reason so please do not bother asking or complaining.
