Allied Main Battle Tank [RA2]
Yes, that is all I could think of.
This unit could be a substitute for the Grizzly Tank, a support unit for the Grizzly Tank, or a slight superior/counter to the Rhino tank. This is a simple straight-forward design, made during a time of boredom. It is low profile, sleek and designed to be a small target.
My Ideas for Arnaments and Stats include-
Strength- 350 to 450
Speed- 5 to 7
Weapon- A 105mm Cannon or a 120mm Cannon.
Secondary- An optional anti-infantry machine gun
It would much appreciated if someone could come up with a name for this tank.
Note: This unit uses the old normals, and could look better with the application of them.
Cameo soon to come, working on a good one that would work well with RA2.
EDIT- Pics I forgot attached.

I quite like, but the wheels seem odd. The front idler (assuming the drive wheels at the back) blends into the tracks and is quite hard to distinguish at a glance, and the track doesn't seem to fit the wheels at the front. As for name, allied tanks have names like "Mirage Tank" and "Prism Tank," so perhaps "Cool Tank" _________________

Challenger 2. Am I right?
Nice job anyways, although it's too dark and seems a bit boxy because of the darkness of the voxel...
Now looking at it on another monitor and after a day of working on it, it does sorta resemble a Challenger in its turret shape.
@Jeeves- I sorta realized that a little too late- I will see what I can do to fix up the wheels. Originally the track skirt was supposed to cover it up, but a seemingly well protected tank design in RA-2 makes no sense.
Well actually, the rear wheel is shown in the HVA Builder Screenshot, I just need to lighten it or modify its appearance so it can show.
I dont want to give the impression that I do this with most of voxels, but I made that tank and its basic design in about 2 hours of hard work. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

So, a camoflauge?
I will try- but I wont make any guarantees-
I am also doing a Yuri and Soviet version, with stereotypical add-ons, like fuel barrels for the Soviets. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

nah don't do camoflague, you gotta be really good to make it look right, its not a exact copy of challenger so best to keep it fictional. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

The back of the turret has two bands of bright Allied scheme- the reason it is soo dark is because I feared that like in past voxels, it would end up way too bright.
Any ideas on what should replace the bright allied color band? _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

The Soviet version, now at completed awaiting feedback on how to make it more soviet.
When this is put up for DL, feel free to disregard the origin of the tank(Allied), just dont use both the Allied and Soviet versions together in the same mod, or it will seem odd, unless you want me to custom design a double barrelled version.
Or should it stay Allied? Is it too Western in design?

Actually RAGosho, No, I haven't been neglecting my duties. And for the record there are other moderators here.
I have been keeping an eye on this, and all other voxels in these threads.
This is a very nicely made and detailed voxel.
But, I have to agree with Mig Eater though, its too dark.
I don't like how the top is a darker colour than the sides, and thus makes the sides being hugely brighter than the top.. it really is.. off-putting, in my opinion. It looks like bad-normals.
I was kinda hoping you'd fix it as people had said, EVA, thats what I was waiting for to spotlight it.
But.. if enough people want it spotlighted.. _________________ If there is a problem on the forums, PM me. QUICK_EDIT

i dont. it doesnt look worthy of spotlighting (sorry if this insults anyone)
there is no texture and the model isnt without flaw either.
the normals arent too bad. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
I don't think it should be spotlighted. It looks too weird, the turret just doesn't look right on the tank. Later on in a few hours I'm going to try and make the unknown tank in the RA2 Setup After Simcity3k UK edition _________________ My name is Shadow... I am Lord of the Shadows! NOD rules!!!!

And since when has a RA-2 tank not look weird? Tell me that?
Honestly, you have to think the tank designers for the Soviets and Allies were on drugs when they made their vehicles.
-EDIT- I am working on a lightened version, and adding some details to the Allied version. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

yea, and that exactly why we want you to prove you're not on drugs.
and im sorry to say westwoods original RA2 voxels look better than yours.
you're a modder to improve the game. not anally rape it.
note: this post is a rant purely aimed at your excuse, not your voxel. you should learn to take criticism, and use it.
so im going to give you some.
-make it fat. it doesnt have to be as extreme as the original voxels, but this is the other end.
-give it textures, textures are detail too.
-never put remap on random parts of your voxel, its something you should think about. remap should cooperate with the voxel-detail and the texture-detail.
note2: everything in this post is MY opinion. i do not ask you to agreem with it, but only to think about it.

No, I was not referring to Westwood designers themselves.
I was referring to how unpractical the designs are, and I was stepping into the game, and was referring to the designers of the tanks that would of made them if the war was real.
Gah! I am confusing myself now.
I will upload the new Allied version soon.
Edit- New version picture attached- The turret and chassis are lightene, and slight detail has been added to the front.
Future additions- You will eventually.

Fatter?!!! What does that mean?
This is supposed to be a Medium Tank/Battle Tank, not a heavy (fat) tank!
It is supposed to be low profile, so it is not a big target!
@Ragosho- Strange, it was about 8 times darker and you liked it.

yea, but that low profile can be imaginary. its supposed to look good above anything else. and its not the front that lacks detail.
all of the improvements you can make are still the same as in my last post. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
tanks that have a wide girth aren't necessarily heavy tanks. Wider tanks are more stable than 'thin' tanks. Besides if a tank's wider then it can have a lower profile thus increasing it's defensive value. If you'll notice 'thin' tanks are rather raised (like the M2 Bradley IFV) compared to the 'fatter' M1A2 Abrams or British Challenger II.
Still, I like the way your tank looks now than it did before. . Still looks like it could use a little bit of improvement.. I don't really know what (maybe it's the shine that doesn't appeal to me; Allied tanks are too.... shiny) But even if you realease it now I say it should pe Spotlighted. QUICK_EDIT
i would have to isagree with you there, Gosho. i think that the turret is just the right spot - if it is to be moved backwards, i think it would make the front look goofy. i think that this voxel is finally ready for spotlighting. _________________

you need the back with the engine top visable you should be able to see the top rear of the tank with is engine grates unlike most tank the grates are at the top for this type of M1A2
my suggestion is if you want it to like authenic then this is a must.
just a thought. _________________ Link to a document to see what mods i have and/or working on or working with

The tank is not supposed to be an Abrams or Challenger, or any modern tank. I like to say it is a sort of generic tank design.
Thanks for suggesting.

I have to agree. Do something with the back of the turret, have 2 raised panels running parallel or something at the back to give it a bit of shape, and I'd say its done!
I have to say, I am impressed with the work put into this, and working with the comments you've received here.
It really has shaped up nicely, from a good tank, to a brilliant tank. Well done. _________________ If there is a problem on the forums, PM me. QUICK_EDIT
