Lack of activity? And some random C&C3 news...
Subject description: If I made a movie of what's going on with me, I'd get rich...
Hello everyone! Are you already wondering if PPM will suddenly become a ghost inactive site? Here's an answer for you: NO. I won't let that happen and I certainly have a lot of motivation for it, so don't worry.
But I have to admit that in the next two weeks, the ammount of news posted here will get reduced. The reason is that there are some crazy and interesting things happening in my life and I have to sort a lot of problems. But everything will be worth, hopefully!
Anyway, there are some news that I've been missing regarding Command & Conquer 3. EA Predator has been answering a lot of people on GameReplays and he has been revealing a lot of interesting things:
1) No population cap in the game, which is a wonderfull news. Let's be honest here: there is nothing lamer than pop cap in a RTS game. That's why Warcraft III is only fun with custom maps.
2) The major focus is on single player campaign!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You don't tell your friends to see a movie because the visual effects were cool and your seat was comfortable, you tell them because it had an awesome story and kept you entertained. Unless we're talking about an MMO or game that is built specifically for multiplayer (like Counterstrike, Team Fortress, etc.), then single player must be considered as a paramount feature for the game to appeal across all audiences."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Separate ballance for single player and multiplayer games. The advantage is that the game will be easier to ballance and patches will be done faster.
4) RTS as Sport: They are providing Voice through IP support, multicast to allow matches from ladders to be watched by a mass of people in the entirely world. This also means improved replay support.
Read more HERE and remember to help the campaign 'Do not mess with my MCV' by not allowing some trolls to put this ugly idea of mini-mcv into the game. QUICK_EDIT

Great to hear about points 1 and 2. Especially point 2, as for me, that is one of the more important parts of a game. I love a good story
Point 3 is interesting, and potentially good.. if it works
Same with point 4.
And I hope everything works out for you Banshee!
EDIT: Nice post, Johny, very nice.
And I remember why I stopped reading the EA forums.. Its so chaotic. There is no order to them, and threads go out of date in hours..
And most importantly.. there are so many complete and utter arseholes there. For once, it seems EA is listening to the fans (mostly) but it would appear the Generals fanatics have the loudest voice at the moment. So ignorant, and so pompus, in thinking they are right. No, believing they are right.
I just shudder.
EDIT 2: I take it back.. EA forums aren't actually complete arseholes (mostly) its just the GR forums people moving over.
Wow.. I'm quite suprised, and proud of the community there. _________________ If there is a problem on the forums, PM me. QUICK_EDIT
Why is Predator talking to GameReplays? All they care about is another craft clone and moan when they don't get one.
Quote:
anyway, it wasnt sarcasm, CCG has the best competative multiplayer experience, largely due to its core gameplay mechanics, but the dozer system has gone, and mcv is back, and it just isnt good news, its very limiting and restrictive to the strategical depth of the game, wich u have said is going to be kept at CCG's high level
This was said by one of the admins, first I have to note his spelling, second he has not played C&C truly.

All developers of CnC-3 agreed "with the way people think here at GR.org"
That's made my day -_-
I hope Predator ignores these manufactured drones. Say anything MCV related to GameReplays and they will say *Blurp! Does not compute! Does not compute!*. _________________

IMHO, If C&C 3 introduce some of the Warcraft ideas, is not bad.
BFME 2 have the possibility to create a new hero, but it miss something.
For example, in Warcraft 3, there's some mission where you have only to use the heroes and, during the voyage, you could pick-up some items.
This thing, for example, could be in some way, stupid for C&C, because it isn't a GDR game, but introducing this way of play, where you can create heroes and, maybe, they could make the difference in the battle, where you can improve more and more the fight and so on, it's nice. QUICK_EDIT
I wish C&C3 could have more neutral units on the maps, with which you can ally/fight/conquer for their treasure/pay them, so they don't attack you. QUICK_EDIT
I don't, hero units in an RTS suck, period (see what happened to Warcraft 3 and other games for examples, millions of imbalances). Heroes are only good for games like Heroes of Might and Magic 3. If you really wanted Heroes, Ghost Stalker or the Cyborg Commando fills this gap for you perfectly, and they aren't too god-like either. C&C is a fresh game, I would find it slightly insulting to be taking lessons from a game that came out slightly later. If I wanted to play Warcraft I would play Warcraft, but I will be playing C&C, so I want to see a C&C with sidebar and full mechanics. _________________
While I disagree on 'no heros', I agree that they DO unbalance the game. Hell, Burton can level a poorly-defended base with his box with a stick they call a rifle.

Overpowered=true
Of course.. Kell is unbalanced too.. but it works..

This is somewhat in reply to his post. I am Mad6822 there.
You see that "dercampaigner" guy? Go cram some firecrackers up his *** for me, would ya? anyway, yes, excellent post.

Ok, lets get this straight.
No one cares about CNCDen and small isolated sites like that which got the same people there as here and which are stuck in TS and Renegade.
You complain that we will be sent to the summits and you will not. Have you thought about why..? What can you people possibly give for kind of valuable feedback to the EA devs?
"But! You've still not added the tiberium pods!! And you don't got the firestorm defense!! WAAAAHH! *go cries in a corner*"
You people (except possibly zdflamer2) don't play competetively to come with f.e balance suggestions. I bet the first thing you people would do would be to check all the movies and lore they've done to see if it's done "right"....
Then you would build up a big, nice base with lots of walls. Then you would go and bother an EA dev when the evil GR.org players destroys your pretty base and laugh at your pretty walls....
This guy really has some balls over there. It is a shame how people have reacted over stuff in the community. _________________ ... QUICK_EDIT

they should at least add the possibility for hero units. for modding purposes y'know. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
A) EA isn't going to listion to the fan base.
B) Don't even think for a minute that they would.
C) GR.org is so ztyping big, it out does the entire command and Conquer community...and to EA, the more people in the Multiplay = Money! = Dozers.
D) No, if we boycotted EA, it would only make a faint blip and nothing more.
E) EA just never gave a rats ass in the first place, and here you all are waiting for that faint glimmer a hope that never existed in the first place.
-_-
Told you people time and time again that EA wouldn't care, but nobody listioned.
The so called community mentioned in the podcast? That was GR.org they was talking about this whole time. The assholes literally seem to have "Taken over" development as you could say. _________________ ... QUICK_EDIT

1) EA is going definitelly with MCVs. The new sidebar displayed on Leipzig is definitelly result from community feedback.
3) When these summits happens, if they really happen, there will be people from GR and people who disagrees with GR and cares about the storyline, etc.
4) If some boycott EA, many others won't and it won't make a difference.
5) EA is overloaded with n00bish suggestions from GR and from non-GR people. QUICK_EDIT
