Subject description: Forget mechs! They are weak, expensive and has a bad cost/benefit...
Our several world wide special agents have worked hard in this month to conquer the media and call EA's attention to one of the weirdest problems on C&C3: How come TS technology looks more advanced than C&C3's? The new Mike Verdu's blog explains the issue:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Since the end of the Second Tiberium War (TW2), GDI has been emphasizing containment of Tiberium, ecological recovery, space research, and economic prosperity over preparation for large scale conventional war. For more than a decade, GDI leaders have believed the threat posed by Nod and the rogue AI known as CABAL to be significantly degraded – if not eliminated all together.
GDI’s new focus led to a sustained decline in force levels and a decrease in outlays for new conventional weapon systems. At the same time, investment in space programs for both civilian and military use has exploded. GDI has adopted a military strategy that relies on a mix of very high-end weapons and command and control systems in space coupled with cost-effective force projection on the ground. In other words, GDI wants the most advanced technology in orbit supporting ground forces equipped with basic weapon systems that are rugged, reliable, and relatively inexpensive to produce and maintain."

At first, it sounds like a lame excuse, but it's not. It actually makes sense. If you aren't in a war for over a decade, you may really want to reduce your expenses with something that isn't being enough used. If you see it in a neoliberal business point of view, things makes more sense.
As for the Brotherhood of Nod, burrowing will be more limited due to game ballancing issues. Also, building pavements near every construction yard is kinda boring, don't you think?
Anyway, there is another classified document leaked recently, although some of the contents are unclear or lost. Dossiers are things that are getting more and more common. In my country (Brazil), the party of the president was cought buying dossiers against their rivals with money from an unknown source. Of course it became a big scandal and the president has certainly lost some votes from tomorrow's election.
The Global Defense Initiative has released a Dossier about Kane. Read it HERE and take your conclusions about the true messiah. Kane lives in death and this GDI scum will get crystalized by tiberium.
I have to say, I found Mike Verdu's blog post about the technology quite good. They took the time to explain their decisions, and they did so quite well, with a realistic point of view.
I mean.. GDI a force like NATO or something, they would realistically be hit by funding costs. So for me, this makes sense and in a way, is quite realistic.
However, that said, I would like to see an extra Mech or two, and a couple of Hover units later on in the game. Just something to keep my craving hunger for technology satisfied.
Also, looking at the Nod section, it really does suggest some interesting new prospects for Nod's energy weapons, Tiberium weapons, and cloaking technology, using misdirection to a new level.
And I was anticipating the lack of subterrenean units. It was a real pain in the backside for WW to get the gameplay and balancing right with those units included. It took them a while. And the team doesn't really have that much time on their hands, so this I was expecting.
So.. if you think about what they've said, and also the actual real-life reasons behind the left-outs, its not so hard to understand.
I think what would be great though, is if they had the logic for subterrenean units properly coded in. That way mods and the like can easily add their own subterrenean units to their hearts content.
Also, the Kane Dossier, I found it a very interesting read. What you have to acknowledge is the entire dossier is from two sources; some of it is from this traitor dude, who is expressing his opinions and what he thinks is happening, which the main dossier obviously has a far greater knowledge backround, as some of the things speculated by the guy, are seemingly well known by the main dossier.
Also, although some bits still elude me.. most of it is quite easy to get around.. if you just relate it to one subject. The Scrin.
Which for me, is great . I've been addicted to the CNC storyline since the beginning, and now we'll finally be uncovering more of it.

Everytime I read news about this game, at first I find it to be bad news in one way or another, but eventually I look even more forward to it, reading the remaining part.
I still think the Avatar should've been a Scorpion looking mech. QUICK_EDIT
At first, it sounds like a lame excuse, but it's not.
It really is a lame excuse actually. The technology didn't decrease after Tiberian Dawn, but got instead alot more advanced in Tiberian Sun. The time in between TD and TS is over 30 years, while the time in between TS and TW is only 17 years.
If technology didn't decrease in 30 years, then how can it decrease in only 17 years? _________________ QUICK_EDIT
