Hello aspiring Yuri's Revenge modders! We have a cool news that will expand the horizons of modding: Rock Patch 1.08SE was released!


Rock Patch is an addon that improves your gamemd.exe to support more modding (and even non-modding) features. It is compatible with the original game and The First Decade. It allows you to create new sides, superweapons and a lot of other cool things.

This new version comes with a dropship loadout support. This feature was written for TS and RA2, but it only got featured on Emperor: Battle For Dune, where you can buy units from outerspace and a dropship would deliver it. In YR with Rock Patch, you may not see dropships, but just aircrafts carrying it for you. Since I've never seen it in action on any C&C game, I'm very suspect to say something, so I'll let this beta picture with the link (click on it) to the related topic explain it better:






Other great feature is 'Air to Air Combat'. In PPM, we had many researchs for this and a lot of work around to try to simulate it. Now, all this work isn't required anymore. Simply put an AACombat=yes and Fighter=yes on your aircraft and case sorted. But, your aircraft may not guard area, so you'll need a fast mouse and good skills to hit the upcomming aircrafts with another one.


The third kick ass thing included in this version is the NewUpgradeSystem. Once your unit is promoted, it can become another unit. This allows you to create an absurd chain of promotions, until your unit reach an uber status. Of course, misuse of this feature can cause several ballance problems deteriorating the gameplay of your mod.

And finally, Rock Patch might not be free of bugs, like any other program. To report them, make sure you use the Bug Tracker, please. In the bug tracker, select the program Rock Patch and the version 1.08SE and report whatever you need to report. Have fun and let's hope this helps to improve the quality of every upcomming mods.

The Air to Air combat is enabled by an additional tag, [aircraft]AACombat=yes , not merely by [projectile]AA=yes. And it requires Fighter=yes to be set as well. (bug #47)

Awesome!!! definately a great triumph, This newupgrade system definately caught my attention.

say for example, I wanted this...P=promo

visceriod+p=adult visceriod+p= jellyfish?

or e1+p=marine+p=wolverine?

I read it isnt limited by [types] ex. inf=unit?

. but unit=ship wouldnt work obviously. and unit=building would be redundant. unless you wanted to delay the option. say unit 'cocoons' into another unit.
