No but I will. _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
I have spywareblaster is that still fine ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
Well what do u know my computer is running better already thanks guys I didnt think that spyware could have been the problem. As im currently scanning spyware doctor says Ive got over 103 infections at the moment (85% done) :O . The program is so good that I actually decided to buy a license from my own pocket and not torrent it cause we need to support the companies.
Would spyware doctor remove those infections once its done ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
More than likely you have some form of virus and/or spyware on your computer, just do a scan for both and remove any traces of both and you should be fine. If the problem still occurs then you may be running to many programs at once. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
103 infections? Wow. You are a living example of how NOT to have a computer. Oh well you still got me ma beat. She had 483 infections before the scanner seized up and me along with me brother had to pick the computer apart on the software level to fix it.
All I can say is fix it or die. Each spyware active can invite 2 more and they can invite 2 more and they multiply like rabbits until the computer is uninterfaceable and needs destroyed. QUICK_EDIT
so what are all the necessary tools in all your opinions that I need to prevent problems with my computer from spyware viruses etc... ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT

Avira AntiVir
Great for catching viruses and ANY and ALL things RELATED to viruses. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT
Search google and you'll get links to fake antispyware that give you false messages that you're infected (and in fact you are, by the program) and forces you to buy it (if you are dumb that is). Google is not recommended sometimes since the internet has "unclean" stuff on it, and google indexes it (good for searching warez tho ).
I use for more than a year ZoneAlarm Security Suite. I never got infections and stuff like that. The version before the current one kinda pissed me off because it used too many resources, so I switched to BitDefender 10, another good AV/AS/Firewall. Or you could try Norton Antivirus, but you better pray that windows lasts at most a month . QUICK_EDIT
I use symantec antivirus corporate edition (latest) any opinions on it ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
Meh. Symantec anything CAN get the job done but its almost a DONT TOUCH ME software and also sometimes it simply wont do anything to detected infections. Then ya either have to use something else or go manual.*
*refers to manually scouring each directory for filenames detected. Wont find all but it does find a lot. QUICK_EDIT
what about kaspersky ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
F-secure pwns, it's so simple to use the only bad thing is that sometimes our computer refuses to believe we actualy have an anti-virus program, and keeps alerting about that.
EDIT: we used to have Ad - aware SE and Spy Bot, but together they cause enormous lag. We had to get rid of them. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
strange thing happened yesterday I tried shutting down and well it didnt shut down and it froze my winamp and I couldnt close it and i couldnt click any icon on the desktop _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." If I shut down the computer using the power button wont it damage the computer eventually ? and why do memory leaks happen ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
All doing that does is dumps your RAM. Nowadays minimal damage (if any) is done to a computer that is improperly shut off. By dumps your RAM basically you lose all unsaved data. You lose, good day sir, do not pass Go, do not collect 200$, and say bye bye to it cause it heads to the bit bucket in Data Heaven. QUICK_EDIT
okay so lets say the memory dump occurs and I cant shut down etc... should I just turn it off and then run scandisk ?
As for the memory leak Im pretty sure that its a trojan preventing me from shutting down strange though I removed what I think is all of the trojans. _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." Once clear, I advise you get the COMODO firewall
Best. Ever. PERIOD.
You can define safe applications and parent applications, and define ones you dont want connecting to the net... Such as Internet Explorer.. I have a particularly nasty hijacker that launches IE at random times, and COMODO stops that.. (AntiVir seems to have destroyed most of the hijacker, but it's a bitch to kill completely).. and also, if something unknown tries to connect to the internet, then a COMODO thingy pops up in the corner saying DENY or ALLOW and reccomended security mesures.
WARNING: RUNNING AdAware SE and AntiVir AT THE SAME TIME IS NOT RECCOMMENDED! _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT
I used to repair pc's at my old job, and some customer had roughly 3500 spyware with 190000 total traces, as well as around 400 viruses. Frickin thing took me 2 weeks to fix.
I personally prefer AVG anti-virus, but Antivir is great too. And Spy Sweeper keep all spyware away without fail. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
a friend of mine recommended Spyware Seek and Destroy a free program any thoughts on it ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT

There is an obvious problem here. Universal, you seem unable to read. "Dumping your RAM" happens WHEN you turn your computer off with the power button because you simply CUT THE POWER. I guess people have to be a bit more obvious with you, otherwise you just don't get it. Memory Leaks are the result of bad programming, and I'm 100% sure you have no idea what they actually are.
Who thinks people should know some basic knowledge about computers and have the ability to write proper sentences before they are allowed on the internet? _________________ QUICK_EDIT
Computer illiteracy is tolerable. You can teach someone about that. Illegible writing on the other hand is not. If nobody (at least in the US) ever payed attention to what was happening in public schooling English courses for which the same is also true for College level are among the HARDEST to teach to anyone. Computers are easy to teach because its a "show me" environment. English is not. However needless to say bad writing is the worse offence here and no the "english is not my first language" bullshit does not fly. Ever heard of little things called Internet Translators or Spell Check? Those right there can help that situation not need to be used as an excuse.
/end rant
But Icy I think its safe to assume you are completely right about him. Also for one thing he dont know is a memory dump still allows you to work with the computer unless it occurred at the Kernel level then the power button is the only solution.
Lesson of this long post. you can be dumb about computers but being dumb about computers AND unable to write even simple English is intolerable. QUICK_EDIT
Okay I get it now so thats why for example my winamp still plays etc... but I cant select any icons.
Thanks Im kind of reinforced learner (need to realize it eventually). My only programming experience has been turing, visual basic, and very little C++ _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
Turing and VBasic are no excuse for bad computer literacy. Even though both suck as programming languages.
As for your new round of butchered Engrish. Your problem is called Not Responding. Essentially the Kernel or other component has decided that Winamp may still keep going if it still has stuff to play but you are no longer good enough to use it that terminal session. If that happens, POWER BUTTON and start over. Judging from your problems with Windows, perhaps you should consider a Mac as its idiot-proof and made for people who dont know shit about computers, ease of use interface or being able to run well...anything in popular media not made by yourself.
Or you could try to grow a brain and learn Linux and learn how to setup WINE. QUICK_EDIT
Actually I have linux (red hat i think) but Im just so used to winxp that it would be hard to change. _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
What is wrong with Red Hat ? _________________ "Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live." QUICK_EDIT
Neah, it's ok, but it's the source, so a killer. I can't run it tho.... conflicts with my monitor or gfx card. When I boot in Linux Fedora Core 6 (and 3), everything loads absolutely fine, but my screen goes black since it sets the settings at a super high, or low resolution that's out of my monitor's range, so I can't run it. I think I'll stick to Ubuntu, although I prefer Fedora Core over it, since it has more options. QUICK_EDIT
